This annoys me too. I'm not a fan of dogs and I think most of that is because people don't know how to train their dog, or what the dog needs to be happy.
My sister came home with a puppy from a pet store and didn't take into account that she's out most of the day and can't play with it and house break it. It never learnt to walk on a lead because she never took it when it was younger. Now she wants it to be a cuddly dog and praises it for cuddling and for whining and jumping around when she gets home and for sleeping on her pillow... then turns around and says that it has anxiety issues and she doesn't know why. It's frustrating to watch because it's not the poor dog's fault.
