Media has a way of showing the worst part of a movement and these bad parts have a way to influence people and how they feel about such movements.

I am sorry for your bad history with women where it has taken you to the point where you no longer feel comfortable with them.

Tumblr feminism is what made me very unenthusiastic to take the class lol.

& yeah, I get that. It's understandable because the movement has some really good goals to tackle other issues like racism and whatnot. I just really think sometimes people go too far and it veers into misandry, which is not what feminism is about. My professor made a point to reinforce that not agreeing with the patriarchy / = / hating all men. It's not like that.

Just do what ya do. Thumb up

is tumblr feminism even feminism or are they just using it as an excuse Coffee

i'm all for people who want equal rights, it's just as feminism is now, with people like the 'tumblr feminists' warping the original intent of feminism, i don't want anything to do with it. and i do acknowledge there are feminists who legitimately want equal rights like i'm not just blocking that out, and i do acknowledge that there are some who are trying to change what's happening overseas, but they're pushed out of the spotlight because radfems are what draw the attention, and i don't want to be apart of a movement where the leaders are misandrists.

i guess i would prefer to be called and egalitarian.

Extremist Tumblr feminism is a bad representation of feminism in general.

I've taken a women and gender studies class, and it educated me the "right" way as compared to the stuff on Tumblr. I highly recommend that sort of class for people who want to know about modern day feminism.
