Thumb up Glad someone else agrees. It's what my Women and Gender Studies professor suggested---it's such a shame that it's a college/uni level course when really education systems should start as early as possible (when people are youth; if they can understand the concepts of good and evil, right and wrong, why not?) to combat the issues more efficiently.

Totally, it's like do you think that men and women should be equal? Yes? Then actually, you are a feminist. My friend used the analogy the other day that viewing feminism as angry, man-hating dykes is similar to people viewing Christians as all being like the Westborough Baptist Church.

That's a freaking awesome idea! I really dig that

Thanks for taking the time to reply. I guess it's one of those cases where I'm going to respectfully disagree haha

I've read all about feminism, from feminists. And it's just not for me. I'm sick of being told a thousand different things by different females who believe in feminism. I believe in equality for the world, but I don't believe in feminism for western society. We are doing okay, it's the women in lesser developed countries that bother me, they have nothing. I could care less about getting another dollar on my paycheck, when those women are being starved and beaten for dumb reasons.

Good on you for being passionate, but don't let it annoy you that people like me don't believe in it. I've had my fair share of unwanted sexual advances, but I'm not bothered by men on the street or anything. That's just who I am.

Keep on fighting for what your fighting for, but don't let my opinion anger you. :)

It always irritates me when I hear women say they're not feminists but then I have to remind myself of all the misinformation out there and that I used to think most feminists were just misandrists until I was properly educated on the subject.

I think some people say they're against feminism because that's what people call it when they go on their anti-men rants. So, like you mentioned, it's a lack of the correct information.
Like, no, that's not what feminism is about but it's what the movement is becoming seen as. And that worries me.

    Well said. Thumb up

I still truly believe everyone should take a mandatory Women and Gender Studies class at the same time as US History (or whatever history class they have, really) because then they'll see how much of history was written by privileged white men with power and education and the PoC didn't get their side heard or written down (until much later and even then they are still silenced / viewed as liars or overdramatizing situations). There is so much people just accept because of the ingrained misogyny and patriarchy going on in modern society. I'm the type of person to ask questions and need answers so it opened my eyes up even more, you know? My teacher also made it a point to take the stance you did---not misandry, and she would correct people in our class if the discussion steered towards the pseudo-extremist Tumblr feminism mindset. Idk, Tumblr and other social media has helped and hurt the movement, as with any movement, and the ones that need to be heard are really doing a lot to have the message heard. It's amazing.

Anyway, yeah, keep on doing what you do. It's really rad.
