I totally agree with you. For a long time, especially when I was younger, I felt like all I cared about was having a guy around. I remember times when I was when in high school when I didn't even care who the guy was as long as I had a guy. Looking back on it, it was pretty ridiculous. But then I got to college and I was too busy worrying about school to even care about guys. I started focusing on myself and figuring out how to make myself happy, and that's when I met my boyfriend. It was like once I stopped caring about having a guy around and started caring about what was right for me, I finally found someone who was good for me and cared about me just as much as I cared about myself, and that was such an amazing and mature feeling. I just think, in general, young people aren't ready for relationships. They use guys as a way to build their self esteem instead of appreciating themselves for who they are.
