Exactly! We all start off somewhere in all manner of things. No one gets everything right the first time around. Speaking of which I found this old original fic of mine that was completely cliche and it makes me laugh rather than feel ashamed.
I find Mary Sues to be quite interesting to be honest because taking a Mary Sue and seeing what you can do with them can provide some fun results.
So thank you for this blog. I think regardless of what people write; cliches, Mary Sues, taboo plots, that's entirely up to them. And writing is therapeutic, like you said. I never got into writing to please other people. I did it because it made me feel better. And somewhere along the line I lost sight of that by trying to please everyone else and now I'm in a writing rut. But everyone starts somewhere, and being rude about it doesn't help them to become better writers. Writers grow without assistance.
