I'm Not Sure as to Whether I Can Write This or Not... | Your Thoughts on Speaking to the Dead? - Comments

  • Think You haven't found any less specific prompts to ease you into the more complex fanfic plot? That example prompt for a Bucky fic seems like a full fledged series. No bueno at the moment.

Exactly. Just any film that involves people messing around and being disrespectful towards the non-living doesn't end very well. Whistle

Lol I came across some writing prompts for Bucky but they're pretty unhelpful. All things I'd love to read, but suck at writing haha.

    Nawwwwwww XD

School girls + the dead = bad news, or at least according to my memories of any horror movie ever.

  • Have you tried writing prompts? Those usually help me if I want to ease out of my comfort zone while still enjoying writing.

One day, I was beyond done with these girls in school who brought one so they could use it there. Mind you, our school is near a former plaza when the Spanish were here during their colonial rule or what have you. mrgun It's not funny or amusing at all to be doing that imo.

Thank you for the advice :) I just feel like I need to write something but I'm really bored with my usual types of characters.
And yeah... I don't own a Ouija board and never will. No

    @ Lyra
I found a blog a woman wrote about having a prosthetic arm as she was born with part of hers missing, which was heaps useful. I guess I'm more worried about like... that writing about it having not experienced it will be somewhat rude to do or something.

Oh no, I don't want to communicate with the dead at ALL, let alone by myself XD I'm more worried about doing it by accident haha.

  • In one of my stories, I wrote about a serious brain injury. I don't know anybody who suffers from one, and I hadn't read about any in a story that was similar to what I was writing. So, I researched it. I found a couple of different sources through google, and through that I was able to get a picture of what the effects of such an injury would be. You can also find forums were people will talk how how it affects their lives. I don't know how much help this is, but it's how I did it.

As for speaking to the dead, man I have to admit I'm a sceptic. I don't really believe in that stuff, but I would be really apprehensive about doing an Ouija board nonetheless. Even if my belief in the lack of a spiritual world is true, I've read and heard enough stories to think that it can mess with people's head. I definitely wouldn't do it alone if I were you, and make sure you have people you trust with you. Honestly, I wouldn't do it but, maybe it would help you? If you feel like there's something there, you can potentially lead to something worse if you don't do it right. Make sure you research before you attempt it!

  • There's nothing wrong with having preferences and a "comfort zone." It's a cliché, but write what you want. That's the great thing about writing---you just let go. Personally, I like writing certain things because it makes me happy and what I write corresponds to my mood. So whether or not you write the latest fic idea you have or not, just know that you can save it until you feel more comfortable to get it written down. Cute

As for the spirits, I highly advise not bothering them, Ouija board or otherwise. . .
