That's absolutely amazing! I've yet to be that lucky and won't be for a while (next one is a festival & seats are assigned). Perhaps I'll get lucky when I see New Politics & Bad Suns, though, in November!

I was listening to a song by The 1975 just a few hours ago as part of a playlist. The name of the band sounded familiar... but I think I only took notice of it once before maybe because the singer? looks a bit like Michael Hutchence crossed with William Beckett.

He's cute, but that shouldn't be reason enough to harass them :/ Don't let it ruin your experience though. At the end of the day, you're there for the music and that's exactly what they'll be giving :)

Of course, there are much better methods, but that one humors me slightly. (Because I am sometimes a sarcastic prick myself.)

Both parties suffer. And it's sad.

Mmm I don't know that shaming girls for how they feel is the right way to go about it, in my opinion. Just, shaming them for how they're making others feel would suffice.

Indeed. I think women suffer more than men regarding sexism but men suffer silently.

I love the way The 1975 handles it. It's quite funny actually, because the frontman always says something along the lines of, "I bet your mum's real proud of you." I went to one of their concerts in May and a girl had a sigh that said 'Fuck me!' After he read it, he was really sarcastic about is and said, "What does your mom think of that? I could imagine it right now. 'Bye, mum, I'm going to the concert with my Fuck Me sign.'"

And I think that it would be more widely recognised if it was Hayley Williams simply because she's a female and the dreadful reality is that our world is sexist and can't seem to find a reasonable balance between both sexes without blaming something on the other party.

People get too excited. Particularly girls. I think it's sorta weird how things are reversed in this situation. Like, if someone like Hayley Williams was receiving perverted comments from fans all the time, it'd be a thing that people would talk about. The guys saying the perverted things would be seen for what their actions show. But with a guy up on stage it's almost like, "oh who cares, he probably enjoys all the attention". Which might not be the case. It's just assumed that because they don't say anything about it, that it's okay to act that way.

And awkwardly, with The 1975, it has happened face to face before. Sigh.

And that's the thing. I'm not saying that it's wrong in some instances, but there's a time and place for everything. And in my case, I am a fourteen-year-old girl (15 by December) and in an environment well 75% of the fans are teenagers, it's really irritating to tell a man that is 10 years older than you to fuck them. Like, I don't care all that much if I'm talking to another fan and they were to mention something as such, I would hardly care. But there is a time and a place for everything and some instances just aren't appropriate.

I think, sadly, the artists just get used to it. It's funny that men in bands never really talk about that side of it all too much. The only things I've heard any guy in a band say regarding the subject is that, if they're older, it can be weird having young girls interested in them.

I can understand those people that scream these things at concerts a little bit. I've never done it. Some of the things you hear people say should definitely be kept to the dark corners of the internet O_O But sometimes, said artist is shaking their ass on stage, possibly shirtless, possibly singing naughty things, and it's a lot to hold in in such an intense environment with people screaming and singing and dancing and such. I don't think they should say these things and I don't think nearly half of them would say them to these peoples' faces if they got the chance, one on one, but I sort of understand how it comes to happen.

The creepy stuff though, that needs to stop. I think there's a really clear line between screaming a few choice phrases and physical harassment.
