Dance Moms? - Comments

Ugh, I'm so glad I don't watch those shows. Toddlers and Tiaras, and Dance Mom's are completely stupid. It makes my heart hurt when the Dance Instructor from DM shows favoritism towards ONE kid and is so critical of the others. I think she's favorites the kid of whichever mom bribes her the most off-screen because we always see the Mom's competing with each other to get the Instructor to personally have some one-on-one time with their daughters.

As for T&T, that's slightly better than DM, but not by much because on DM you have the kids being bullied by both the moms and the teacher, while on T&T it's the parents who bully the kids for both losing and for winning. it makes me sick thinking about all those poor kids. I'm glad June, the mother of Honey Boo-Boo pulled her daughter out after one season or whatever when they got their own show. But even than I didn't like Here Comes Honey-Boo-Boo either. >.>

I've never seen that show specifically, but I had the same reaction when watching Toddlers and Tiaras. I don't know whether it's maybe because I wasn't pushed into any of that when I was younger, but it does seem like a really toxic environment for these kids to be in. I mean, our school was pretty competitive with grades and the teachers pushed us, but that was school and if we didn't pass, you had the chance to go again the next year. These dance programmes and beauty pageants just seem like a really cut-throat industry. I don't think it's safe, especially for young children, to have them growing up in such a head-to-head area of expertise.
