Lack of video editing software is no biggie deal. My first videos were just from my webcam lol. Even my mobile phone. Cameras be expensive >.<
And I understand your nervousness about being shy. I'm the same way ^_^
But once you're in front of the camera, recording and just being yourself...it doesn't seem weird or scary anymore.
It's a good time and I would recommend it :)

I've been really considering creating and uploading videos onto my youtube account for about two years now. It looks like a fun hobby. But the only thing that is holding me back from doing this - besides the lack of a video editing software - is I'm a shy person. And the thought of talking to a camera and uploading the video makes me nervous...
