Um, I don't think so. I don't typically just comment with "Wow! That's so good!" or whatever. I usually give my opinion in it's entirety. So, if people had the same philosophy as I do when it comes to comments, there would be better comments on stories.

I see what you're saying about commenting on the not so exceptional stories, and you're right. When I read stories, I'll make an effort to comment on all of them.

I won't say I don't ever give crappy comments because sometimes I do. Only because I don't really have much to say on a story until I've read it from beginning to end. So, the crappy comments are typically to keep someone going and once the story is finished, I try to give lengthy comments. Seeing as I usually only read finished stories, unless someone asks me to do otherwise, that happens very rarely.

On a one-shot, like mine, I try to tell them everything I think about it. But that's just me and I apparently have a crappy philosophy on commenting, but whatever.

Thank you, sweetheart, though you didn't have to. I'm pretty sure I was just upset, in general, when I posted this blog and it's not really that big of a deal.

I don't think you can really look at it like no one likes it. Because I have stories where people were once really involved and now there's nothing. It's not because they don't like it anymore, it's just because Mibba has changed and people don't really feel the need to comment.

Also, I think you get what you give on Mibba, and maybe if you start commenting on other people's things, even if you don't find them amazing, you'll get more in return. Plus, like you said, you want constructive criticism - so do the authors of those "not exceptional" stories.

If everyone has the same philosophy you do for commenting, there wouldn't be any helpful comments, just more of the "WOW! this was exceptional! Can't wait for more."

So just think in terms of Mibba Karma. :) You get back what you give out.

Well, I'm not really in it for people to call it amazeballs and all that jazz. I just want to know what I can work on. I mean, I know as a writer, I will never stop needing to work on things but I like having things pointed out to me. I just want to know what the readers see, you know?

Oh I'm not saying you should always have a summary. I'm sure some of mine don't, or that the summaries are poor at most haha. But sometimes it helps? Sometimes it's just the way it is, too. There's always readers that never read past the first few chapters out of lack of interest. To be honest, I'm that 18th reader that didn't leave a mark, simply because the story didn't pull me, you know? (and I was on my phone with it which never helps) It's just not something I would usually read. If you're after concrit, I can give you a comment on it... but I don't really have anything sort of pointlessly kind to say like "ZOMG this was amazeballs" though I gathered it wasn't a happy story anyway.

I try not to worry myself over readers too much. I don't think anyone on Mibba would have a story where 100% of their readers have left a comment or what have you. The best I've ever got was a 1:2 ratio of subscribers to readers, so half of those that read it ended up subscribing. Comments were far less. Also, with one-shots, I personally have hardly any that have any subscribers.

Lol I was curious and had a look through my own story list. I have a few with 8-15 readers and no comments and such, and one with 129 readers and only 1 commenter haha, meaning that 128 people read the story and thought it wasn't worth commenting/reccing haha. But different things appeal to people at different times and such.

Well, the story was wrote for a contest so I didn't really feel the need for a summary. And it's not a super long story, either. I don't know... It's just disappointing, either.

Just an idea but maybe as the story summary lacks a summary, those 17 people clicked on the chapter to read and it simply wasn't their thing. The reader count goes up when someone clicks on a chapter, not on the story summary page. Perhaps there were also people that clicked to the summary page but weren't pulled in and so didn't read.
