Tbh I too am guilty of not using Desi's in my stories. But you know, that's just because MS Word keeps showing these weird red lines (that seem strangely annoying) under their names. xD

I know right? There are like 0 Desis in stories on here and I'm like, "k this needs to change" 'cause that's just ignoring 1 billion people that exist so...callin' you out, Mibba!!!!!!

And I'm actually American (I was born here) but I'm first generation because my parents are from Bangladesh Cute

    so basically
I am desi and I didn't even know it
in aus the term for indians and srilankans is 'curry' which can be offensive but it depends who's saying it
like if i say it between the other indians / lankans it's okay but for anyone else some may take offence which is weird but yeah
    ANYHOO
    'lanka reppin' it

goddamn Deepika Padukone is beautiful i want to be her

Well while I was snooping 'round the Internet to learn more about this since I'm something of a cultural nosy pants, I discovered that BYU Idaho has a Desi Association. So, feeling a little proud of my Mormon homies. :')

the wikipedia definition for it is "a term for the people, cultures, and products of the Indian subcontinent or South Asia and their diaspora" it's kinda more colloquial than anything, like formally you'd say South Asians but we usually just call ourselves Desi

Is there a particular meaning behind the term Desi?? I've never heard that before. Though I have to say I have always wanted to visit India. Everything about it just seems fascinating to me; and Gabriel Iglesias's description of his time there only served to make me want to go even more.

:) I think this is a great idea. I've been thinking about this a lot in general lately. Not just Desi, but just different races in general. There are so many amazing cultures and people in the world. It's a shame that they aren't better represented.
