@ wildest dreams I'm glad someone else understands where I am coming from! I get what you mean when you say it's a good outlet - I definitely use writing as a means of getting my emotions out about issues I can't completely control. And I know exactly what you mean about getting inspiration from other's ideas - actually, reading two books about a month ago is what convinced me to start writing again in the first place!
@ losing control. I agree 100%!! Reading other people's stories tends to get me in the mood to write in the first place, because it reminds me how much I love it :)
@ Alex Moore. I used to LOVE co-writing stories. The prospect of seeing how my cowriters wrote and what they would write was incentive enough for me to get a chapter out! I never thought of using pictures as an inspiration, that's very cool :)
I get a ton of inspiration from music and reading books/stories other people have written and I often base the setting in my stories off of places I've been/know of. I find it makes things a lot easier when I actually know what I'm writing about.
I'm actually the same exact way - I find it much easier to write or put my thoughts together if I have in some way experienced it. I think it's a good outlet and way to write - you are more in touch with the characters and I find it easier to express because you already have some idea of what the emotions are and I'm rambling. . Even in fanfiction, it really helps me. Like most of my ideas come from feelings, I've personally felt - the situation being completely different in the story. But still.
Something that highly influences me is reading other people's ideas. I never copy the idea or anything, but sometimes reading other people's stuff gives me these creative sparks and ideas and it is just lovely.
