I'm so hard on myself that's the reason why I never post anything xD And usually anything I do post I want to take down after, but I don't.

    1. How hard are you on yourself when it comes to what you write?
Not too hard, because I generally edit as i go along anyways and when I post something, I immediatley read it over and just look for minor errors.

    2. Do you edit your stories? If so, how under the microscope are they?
Yep. Like I said in the last question, I tend to edit a chapter as I'm writing it and after posting it, I go back and fix some minor errors. I let them stew for a week or two or however long it takes for some people to read it before rewriting some parts and editing it. They're under completely under the microscope tbh.

    3. Are you happy with everything that you’ve posted?
Not all the time no. I haven't been happy with what I've posted for Last Life or any other story within the past two years for some odd reason.

    4. Is there something that you’d like to take down but haven’t?
    Not right now, no.

    5. When you leave a comment, do you try to be nice or do you try and help the author?
I do a mixture a both. At least I try to anyways.

    6. Do you have standards when it comes to what you read? If so, what are they?
Yep. I expect people to have a decent grasp on spelling and grammar, at least enough so that I can understand what they're saying with their story. And of course, I expect the characters to show some feelings as they speak rather than there to be nothing but He said, she said, Johnny said, Sally said, with no action or feelings to it.Of course I don't mean people after describe the entire scenary or the characters in full, just enough for the readers to get a good picture of what's going on.

lol I was so hard on myself that I stopped writing for almost 2 years mrgun

I edit my stories and I try to do it like 100% but sometimes I miss some stuff so I ask other people to review it then I review it again.

Yes. Maybe. Maybe yeah - well, the ones I've written recently are the ones I'm damn proud of but the ones before XD fuck em.

Everything I've posted before but I feel sentimental about them so I don't wanna take them down.

I'm already not that nice to begin with but I still try to help the author when I'm being brutally honest when I comment.

Yes, god, I have tons of standards. It has to have a visible text; it has to have at least average grammar; it has to flow well; diction is another thing; and yada yada yada etc. I have a lot of standards, basically.

    1. How hard are you on yourself when it comes to what you write?
This is gonna sound weird, but when I write, I write in this zone where everything I'm trying to say comes out easily. When I'm not in this zone or feeling like it's easy, I don't push myself to write all that much. But also, I try to push past my comfort zone when I do, to branch out and become better.

    2. Do you edit your stories? If so, how under the microscope are they?
I do. I tend to edit while I'm writing it and while people say that you're not supposed to do that, it's what helps me stay focused and stay with the tone of the chapter/piece. Then afterwards I reread again (or let my computer read it out loud for me). I probably could edit a lot more though.

    3. Are you happy with everything that you’ve posted?
Heck no. There are some things from early on that are just so bad. At the time I didn't know they were bad, but they are. Like my trilogy right now. I love the sequel so much. Like it's probably one of the best things I've ever written, but the quality of the writing in the first one (which I started in '11) is so much worse.

    4. Is there something that you’d like to take down but haven’t?
Nope. The only completed thing I ever took down was a short story that I wrote for a class in high school. The reason I took it down was because I didn't put much effort into it and honestly didn't care much about it. And I didn't want something I was apathetic about to represent me here.

    5. When you leave a comment, do you try to be nice or do you try and help the author?
Both. I tend to be really constructive/critical when I comment, but I definitely try to do it in a nice way. I think that in order to get better, you have to know what you're doing wrong to fix it. Like with editing, I feel like if you let someone edit your work for you, you're never gonna know what you're doing wrong. In fixing it yourself, you'll learn and have to correct those mistakes, so then you'll be aware of them and won't make them again.

    6. Do you have standards when it comes to what you read? If so, what are they?
Yes, of course. It's hard to pinpoint for me, but I want to read a story that's well pulled together. Where I can read and not be distracted by mistakes and where I can get a feel for the characters. I don't want to read something that leaves me confused or wanting more. It has to hit all the boxes and be well-rounded. There needs to be detail, plot, good grammar, and it needs to feel natural. (And more, but I can't think of them right now Smile )

    1. I'm really hard on myself. I'm constantly re-writing chapters and sometimes it can take me weeks to be happy with what I have on the page.

    2. I edit to a point, my grammar sucks so that bit isn't very good, but I've started using the beta on here and I'm slowly learning.

    3. I am to a point, anything that I write is usually a way for me to vent, writing helps me de stress so I'm happy in that way, but I always always think that my stuff can be a lot better.

    4. I have a couple but I won't take them down or stop writing because there are a few people sebscribed to them and I don't like letting people down.

    5. Writing comments I like to be honest... I always put the good and bad because most people on here want to improve with their writing so concrit is always good.

    6. No, I'll read anything except wincest... wincest is just really hard for me too read and really get into.

I definitely understand what you mean. I've ever only been completely happy with 1 of my stories and I feel like I'll never get back there again Facepalm

    1. Really hard. I re-write things multiple times and usually end up posting them even when I feel like they're complete crap.
    2. It really depends on the story. A lot of the time I'll end up taking them down and editing them instead of really editing them when I first write them. It's a weird habit.
    3. Not at all.
    4. There's a couple stories I want to rewrite, but I took down like 7% of my stories like a year ago so I'm pretty happy with what I have now.
    5. Both. I usually start with things that I liked, then general things I think could be improved, then be super nitpicky and point out spelling/grammar mistakes, then end with something nice. I'm always looking for that kind of feedback on my work, so that's what I give to other people.
    6. Something has to be interesting to me from the start of the first chapter or I just can't get into it. And I'm a huge sucker for description, so if there's no detail I'll have a hard time reading it.

Believe me, I completely get where you're coming from with this Facepalm I think everyone's a little hard on themselves when it comes to their writing.

    1. Yup, especially nowadays. I feel like, because I haven't been writing as regularly or as consistently, I've "lost my thunder" and I'll never get back to the level and quality that Iwas writing at.
    2. It depends. If I think it's worth editing, I'll put the time in. If it's just something I wrote on a whim or something I'm not totally invested in, I won't bother with the editing.
    3. Definitely not.
    4. While there's definitely some things I have up that I don't feel like represent who I am as a writer, I won't take anything down because I feel like every little thing, amazing or not, has its purpose and is part of my "writing journey."
    5. I try to balance out the positive things I have to say about a piece with the things I feel like need work. I try my best to give the sort of comments I'd like to receive myself XD
    6. I guess I do/ I don't do as much reading as I used to, but I won't read something that's bogged down with so many grammatical errors that it's no longer enjoyable for me to read or that it becomes difficult for me to comprehend.
