Definitely so. Yes In instances like this, it's no wonder why people have such an issue reaching out in the first place or they discontinue sessions/treatment. There is still so much to learn and understand about the human experience in order to make positive changes that my heart goes out to you, Alex. You're incredible. Cool <3

    @ The God of Mischief.

You're absolutely right. I've had my fair share of psychiatrists over the years, and the majority of them have treated me poorly. It's unfortunate that I and so many others rely on them so much... But thank you so much for the kind words and advice and the offer of support, I really appreciate it all. <3

    @ kitsch

Of course I remember you! Ahhh, thanks for this comment. It's super validating that you see everything wrong with this situation, haha. And thanks for the well-wishing. ~

Okay, can I just say that this blog really makes me want to switch my major again and go back to the original goal of becoming a psychiatrist? I'm so sorry that the APA has failed you. Arms There's a lot wrong with it, there really really is and it sucks because it hurts SO many people. It needs to be reformed, new rules and policies set into stone: it needs more committed and caring doctors, not just ones who treat their patients like shit and take their money. I'm so, so sorry that you've experienced that. Arms Arms

If you ever need someone to talk to please feel free to message me. Arms I can't promise I'll be too much help other than someone to bounce ideas off of or to offer support, but I have two-years training in the psychology field and am going to start a Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing program in the fall so I can at least follow where you're coming from on a slightly deeper level than just nodding my head.

And as a word of advice, which you clearly already know (I'm just trying to solidify your thoughts here), don't ever stop taking your medication if you don't feel ready to. Arms That only calls for disaster. Even if you feel stable and want to quit them, be sure to have contact with a reliable psychiatrist first: someone that doesn't mind taking the time to ween you and make sure you're not worsening through it. And any psychiatrist that makes you quit cold turkey, unless it's a very very mild medication, should also be left behind. It should be a process of less and less until it's finally none.

I really hope that you're able to find a reputable and caring doctor, you truly deserve it. Arms Arms

Hey, Alex. I remember you. If you don't remember me, it's cool. Cute

And the fact that the psychiatrist called you an idiot is just. What. Wow. I've only been to one psychiatrist and there was talk therapy but not that condescending passive aggressiveness that yours seems to be exhibiting. Neutral I don't even know what to say about the flip flopping between a diagnosis of bipolar or BPD. There are slight differences between them but she doesn't want to bother herself to check?! Rolling Eyes I'd be livid as well. I hope the next one is more cognizant of your individual needs.
