Lol like it's recommended that you go. But if you got a semi-big school like I do...who is really checking for you?!? Ha, I missed a lecture event cause my suitemates and I went to Wal-Mart and I missed a dance party thing cause I was pre-gaming for an actual party. I don't even remember the other event I missed lol. Show up to most, but you don't gotta go to all.

You're like the 4th person who's said they've skipped "mandatory" things and I just Hail thank you for that because I really do not want to go to a lot of that mandatory bs my second day lol

Oh yeah. Totally. I didn't get pressured into drinking at all. I did it cause I got the opportunity and said "Fuck it, why not?" and I took an EXTREMELY meticulous count of how much I drunk and if I felt off, I stopped myself.

    Self-control all the way.

I know it was the royal 'you' but I just thought I'd clarify in case anyone going into college read that and got worried. It's honestly a big struggle for a lot of people to find groups that they click with that don't drink, and so I just wanted to say that nobody is going to be pressured into drinking/smoking/partying if they don't want to!

I also get what you're saying though.

It was just a general personal statement. I said probably, not definitely. If you're strong and really stick by your beliefs to not do these things, then cool. But for me that wasn't the case and probably won't be the case. Like my best friend will probably totally disagree with that statement I've made, but other people will totally agree lol. I'm not telling people "Oh yeah! Get drunk/high/party your second night"

No. I'm saying you may do these things. I can't force people to do/not do things if they really don't/do want to do them lol. But I get where you're coming from.

I've had a lot of the same experiences as you and agree with a lot of what you said, except for this "When you say you're not gonna do something...you'll probably more than likely gonna do it. I said I wouldn't drink, smoke, or 'party'. Yeah. Broke that all the second night of college.". This slightly bothered me because I don't drink, smoke, or party and to basically say that people aren't going to stay true to their wants is sort of a big thing.

I mean, I'm on year two of college and I still haven't smoke or drank. I've been invited to parties, but I don't "party", if that makes sense. I go to hang with friends, not to experience that stereotypical "party" mindset.

So basically, I just wanted to say that it IS definitely possible to remain true to what you believe/how you want to act on campus, and still have fun. I'm not the type of person who wants to do any of that and that's completely okay. I know a lot of people like hooking up and drinking and smoking and partying, and that's okay too, but it really depends on the person. If you go into college not wanting to do those things, it is completely possible to hold onto those convictions. :)

I just don't want people to think that' those are things that are going to happen no matter what. We're all in charge of our own decisions and if you decide not to do those things, it won't happen. :)
