Has anyone else noticed a theme in their stories? Maybe with a character, or maybe a little fact?
i'm sure there's one or two, but i can't really think of them at the moment (i may or may not be in class ) i think one may be, in a story that's centered around more than one character, there's always a pair that balances each other out in the sense that ones is lighthearted and silly and the other is somewhat pissy all the time. i love that dynamic, so that always sneaks its way in.
Is there anything that annoys you about reoccurring themes in stories?
i think it can be fine if it doesn't feel like a carbon copy every time. it can be seen as a signature, almost, a little thing to make you think, "i'm definitely reading [beepboop]'s story!" but if it's done in a way that causes it to get stale super quick, mm, i can't say i'm too big of a fan. i suppose it just depends on how it's carried out?
How do you feel about coffee shop stories?
OH GOD I'M A SUCKER FOR THEM. i'm always scouring for otp prompts and reading little oneshots and all and there are so many cute coffee shop aus. i'm terrible when it comes to them. they can be so so cute.
Do you have a favorite theme or type of character?
like hina, i really like the soulmate type of stories (especially the soulmate aus....and especially if they go wrong.....) and i love the hopeless romantics. i also love the type of pair that i mentioned earlier, the silly and the serious. they're so often precious.
I completely understand about the high school love triangle stories. They happen so often, especially with the same characters over and over again. It does get overly monotonous.
And I feel the same with soulmate stories. I live for them! Mostly because of how there are so many ideas for soulmates, a ton of myth on creating a perfect whole. They fascinate me. I would love to read more of them.
@ louis.
I think balance is so important for stories, especially with characters. I like the light and dark dynamic with different characters!
I didn't even think about seeing themes as a signature! That's a very good point. But I also agree, when certain themes are done over and over and in odd ways, themes tend to have me losing interest.
I'm so glad to find another coffee shop theme fan, they have to be some of my favorites! As well as soulmate ideas!
