My parents are like this, more so my mom. They're both stuck in the 1950s and 60s since that's how their parents raised them. They both work, but my dad is the one who makes the "big bucks" while my mom is the one who cleans up the house and other "womanly" things while he just sits there and orders food. My mom tries to force this lifestyle on me and I'm like "Nuh uh".

You do you, chica. Fix the tires, fix floors, do whatever. Being strong independent women is fun ^_^

Yes, she grew up in a Southern Baptist family. But her dad was in the air force, so her mom was the head of the household so I'm not sure where the bias comes from Unsure But I definitely won't give up! Mr. Green

Not sexism, just gender bias. I will bet that your mother was brought up in a very male dominated household with a good dash of religion thrown in.
Don't you dare give up! Being a strong independent woman is great, in my years I have seen a change in roles and doing what is right, especially to ease your partners life is awesome. I personally think that women have more power....think about it. Yes, men are strong but women have the power of life and that is real power.
Do what is in your heart and do it right. Be amazing!!
