I think where a lot of Christians (and even more people who automatically dismiss Christianity and the bible) fail is getting so caught up in the smaller details of things that they lose sight of what's most important. There are a lot of truths in the bible, and I definitely think it's important that we do the best we can to follow God's word, but it's even more important to remember that according that that very word we aren't saved by our own actions. A lot of people will say that, but their actions demonstate something different; they get so caught up in judging what is and isn't sin that they lose sight of the fact that Jesus died to save us from sin, and that HE is what we need to be focusing on. No matter how "good" we are, we cannot save ourselves; we need Jesus.
And we need to spread the word of Jesus, and yes, we need to spread love and not judgment and certainly not hate. Just as Jesus did. We are called to be like Christ, and Christ was loving, tolerant, and patient.
