I'm from Australia, so we don't really 'have' Black Friday, but I can imagine it being horrific. D:
1. I live for my days off! Haha. On my days off I try and do everything I need to do outside work (that, is live my life. lol)
2. I usually catch up on missed sleep and do my errands. And I try to regain my social life. Now, I'm trying to work on my hobbies outside the health industry and from work.
3. Ughhhhhhh. If I could sum up work in one word, it would be that. But honestly, I do love my work. I just hate getting up at 5AM... So it's more of the dread of waking up in the morning than going to work.
4. I get what you mean about when it's a day off and you're left thinking... what the heck just happened?! I used to work full-time with 12+hrs shift work and be on call for emergencies. That was hard. I'd never see my family or friends... or even do anything other than work! But now, it's much better - I've cut down my work a lot because I'm doing more study and want to specialise even more. So, I guess you could say I have somewhat of a work/life balance now.
I don't feel lost on my days off, but I do usually end up feeling like they go too fast or that I don't really get enough of what I'm trying to do that week done - like meeting a writing goal I set for myself, or getting my bedroom straightened up so that my boyfriend doesn't have to when he gets off work. A lot of times I end up staying up way later than necessary because my boss has a really bad habit of giving me two days off at the beginning of the first week on the schedule, and not giving me another day off until the very end of the next week's schedule. It usually ends up with me working ridiculous stretches of like, 10-12 days in a row without a day off and it really frustrates me and impacts my days off.
On my typical days off depends on if it's after I've gotten paid or I've still got a couple of days to go before payday. If it's after I've gotten paid, my boyfriend and I make our usual runs - to Wal Mart, to Kroger, and to our 'lil buddy's store,' to get cigars and beer and whatever else. Then we usually come home and either take turns playing Skyrim, or we watch a TV program or something while we eat and spend time with the cats. If I still have a couple days before payday, we usually just sit at home and either play Skyrim, sleep, or watch TV. He's not much of a get-outter and I don't go out when it's less than 60 degrees or so because I get cold way too easily.
I resent going back to work, usually. Mostly because of that bad habit of my boss's that I told you about. I'm the only person she makes go that long between days off and even though I understand it (I'm the best housekeeper she's got, so she needs me more than the others when we have important guests) I don't agree with it.
My work/life balance sucks. Because I work so many days in a row, I'm usually exhausted and don't really want to do anything more than our basic shopping on days off. He's usually exhausted too because up until tomorrow, he's been working landscaping for the entire year and usually leaves home at 4 AM and doesn't get home until around 6 PM usually. Today is his last day doing that, though, and so hopefully we'll both be more motivated to do things on our days off now.
