I agree with you in the sense that it may not have been for the best to try and reconnect after the things you had been through. I reached out one time since I lost my her, and it proved to be a disappointment. She's not the same person I was so close with and I should have just accepted it for what it was no matter how.much I missed her. It's just something we can't rekindle. We've both grown into new people but I will always have our memories.
The only thing about cherishing those memories is sometimes the wounds still bleed, you know?

I tried reconnecting with someone was my best friend after almost 4 years of dropping contact with them. This girl was everything to me that Whitney was to you. She practically lived at my house every summer for four years, and two of them we weren't even in the same school district. But when she came back she was a completely different person in school, and we grew apart after a couple of fights.
She's not the same anymore. She's angry and offensive at all times, and she's become the same person as her parents even though she had always despised the kind of people they were. After 3 months of reconnecting she unfriended me on Facebook and we dropped connection again. Sometimes I think it would have been better to not have reconnected at all, at least I still have great memories with her.
