maybe you hit your self in the nose really really hard whilst sleeping and it pulled it and made it bleed??
Then it would have gotten infected becuase you had a runny nose and all...

Sounds like What happened is that some of your snot (sorry for sounding gross) got in there and gave you an infection. It's not uncommon. Snot has a lot of bacteria in it.

I've had this thing for over six months. It was professionally done. Completely sterile. And I've had that particular ring in since I had it pierced.

i wouldn't have taken it out. you could've reacted to the metal (my mum and I have problems with earrings because we're sensitive to cheap metals. my mum says this is a good enough reason to assume we're related to royalty), which is common. the piercing could've been germy from the shop or the person who pierced you. that's very, very probable. just keep cleaning it and put some anti-bacterial stuff on and it should clear. put it back in as well! if it doesn't, go back to the shop or to a doctor.
(but i'm not a medical proffesional, just the granddaughter of a nurse.)

uhm... i just have my nose pierced... but that went wierd for a bit, and every time i touched it, it bled (didn't help that my friend punched me in the nose less than an hour after i'd got it done)
But... just keep it cleaned and all that, it'll bleed because it's a hole in your flesh (most things would bleed) and jst put TCP or something on it... all of my piercings have gone sorta infected, but they were fine after a while and i didn't need it checked out...

How long have you had it done for?

o_O everyone else said go to a doctor... maybe I'm just strange

Why did you take it out? *headdesk* Taking piercings out and putting them back in again right after you had them done is a big no-no. Leads to infections, among other things.

Where did you get the piercing done? At a shop? Was it a sterile environment, and did the piercer use gloves? Any piercing done in a non-hygenic atmosphere stands at high risk for an infection. Also, I hope the jewelry was sterile, too. It could be a reaction to the type of metal you're using, or your body could just be rejecting it completely, which happens quite often with piercings. If you had it done in a home or by yourself, go to a doctor.

Check out BMEzine, and search for 'septum' there; maybe something there will help. (It's modblog.bmezine.com)

    im not sure.
i would say that it has a littleee bit to do with the cold, but i dont really think that was the big problem at all.
because of the bleeding ocming from where it was pierced, and the pus, it sounds like its infected.
im not experienced with septum piercings, so im not really sure whether you should just keep it in or take it out.
    sorry :\
i wish i could be more of a help.

My guess is that it was something to do with your cold.
a cold is a virius remember, and the virius could of got into the piercing and caused some problems, I would suggest visiting the piercist or doctor to ask whats happened.
