Oh man I remember MySpace....people taking pictures of themselves in the mirror, the arm in the photo, all that stuff.

I bought a tripod just for fun, but even I don't take that many pictures.

I always wanted of those cameras that took instant photos. No holding your hand still for 5 seconds, just click and it's there. But for that money I'd rather buy a laptop.

Either way, you shouldn’t feel bothered by adolescents who think they’re ‘photographers’.

    I shouldn't, but I do.
Just like everyone on here gets bothered if you can't write for shit and think you are the shit.

Hey, some people DO have natural talent.
But I'm talking about the people who are fresh OUT of talent... xD

I agree up to a point. It's not just 'scene' kids, or any other specific group of kids, it's all of them.
A lot of kids take butt ugly pictures of themselves and think they're the greatest thing that ever happend, when they're not.
Some people actually do have natural talent, and some go to school to enhance it.

soo positive. we all got the point, but don't make angry journals that make generalizations about a lot of different types of people just because they like to take and edit photos using digital cameras and photshop. not all people that do that are arragant about their photography skills, and some people are serious about photography.

    martian has a point.
I too am an artist even at a young age, it's in my blood. Do i have to attend an art school to be talented? To have the right 'skills'. No. Photography is a part of art. You cannot be taught about what is beautiful, or that you have to possess this certain type of camera to create something magnificant. I know that having the right gear gives additional quality to images, but still. Even if it doesn’t have the added quality can it still not be beautiful? Maybe one day something could be caught in the right lighting with just an ordinary digital. Either way, you shouldn’t feel bothered by adolescents who think they’re ‘photographers’. One day they’ll grow up and strive for something they’re more skillful at.

    I agree.

I like taking pictures, and one of my resolutions is to take my camera to more places, but I wouldn't call myself a photographer at all.

It's a hobby of mine and I doubt it'll turn into anything more.

You have to start somewhere. But that doesn't mean that these "scene kids" should brag and think they're the bomb.I agree with you in the whole part of these kids thinking they're the raddest thing since nachos

I agree. Sure, I like taking pictures, and sometimes take pictures of random crap in black and white for the hell of, but I don't think that makes me a photographer at ALL. That just makes me a bored teenager who owns a digital camera.
I know what you mean, if you want to be a really good phographer, you have to go to school like your sister did, and you end up using cameras that probably cost more than your first car did!
And plus, scene kids depend on photoshop for 99.9% of their pictures, where as a good photographer can take a picture using the knowledge they have and not have to even touch the picture with editing.

I agree, but there's also a point where it's just for fun. My friend Katie is amazing at it, and she has a ton of equipment and stuff. She does it for fun, and takes really powerful pictures.

I don't think she counts as a 'scene kid' like this says.
