Yeah, I agree with what someone else said. Anne Rice didn't write about vampires first; she didn't create them. Just because her vampires were certain ways about stuff doesn't mean all fictional ones should be. And this is coming from someone who doesn't even like the Twilight series thing.

I know. Seriously. There are a lot of people who are like "OMG MARRY ME EDWARD!"
It gets quite annoying. Honestly, he is a character in a book. Nothing more. And yeah. I didn't like how all the good stuff was in the first half of the book. And then it just kind of...yeah. But I still loved it. XD

i agree with u on some degree. here are my rules: 1) i like them not to have fangs. i luv luv LUV the twilight saga but i really can't stop thinking that a human would see their fangs ya'know. 2) i luv all vampires (anyway they are discribed) but i think they should be a little normal looking.like not so beautiful.i would kill myself if i was THAT beautiful. ya know what i mean and i think u do. and 3) drinking JUST animal blood would make a vampire a little weak and sick. though i like how she made up vegtatain vampires.:) that was smart.
personally i'm a full-blown edward luving girl but i see what u mean. everytime i hear edward cullen in a topic i don't flip out like a few of my friends do. i'm just calm that way.but i have seen girls flip for him and i mean FLIP. and all i think is get over your self. i can understand but the few girls at my school scare me when i say edward cullen.really SCARE me. i believe there are no wrong vampire type ing stories...well not the old vampires(like in dracula) i HATE those ones.XP but i think there are no rules to the "basic" vampire. not trying to offen u. ppl can have whatever opining on vampires all they want.^^ i just wanted to view my point or whatever on a topic like this.^^ like my friends nicknamed me,i'm a vampire freak.XD oh and breaking dawn was the BEST!! i little too much drama though...

    Vampires arent real [/duhhhh]

So people can interpret them and how they survive and such however they like.

Personally, I hate vampire books where they all have the same characteristics.
    It's like, be creative, man.
Its your book. You don't have to make your characters the same way everyone else imagines them and makes them, etc.

Thats why I enjoyed reading Stephenie's series.
It was all pretty much the opposite of what I was expecting.
And, to me, that makes a pretty good read.

Well, vampires generally are supposed to be able to walk in sunlight, but they can't survive on just animals.

Anne Rice isn't the first person to write about vampires. :XD

Vampires are fictional and people can make what they want of them. And if I'm not mistaken, in Interview With a Vampire... didn't Lestat live off rat's for the longest time?
