I usually have an idea for the ending, but it's often only a very vague idea. (The last story I started writing, all I knew about it was that there would be a big fight at the end and a bit of romance.) My stories usually work better when I know where they're going to go, but often I'll get half way through and just suddenly bring in this completely unprecedented idea that ends up being a major part of the storyline.

I try to write in order, but sometimes I just come up with a great idea and know that I have to write it down or I will forget it. I don't like coming up with huge chunks of writing from near the end though, otherwise I lose interest in writing the rest of the story.

I always write my chapters in order, I confuse myself if I don't. However, with certain stories, I've already begun to write the sequels, even if the original story isn't finished (this is particular with Bushels Of Bad Habits and it's prequels).

With endings, I tend to know what I'm doing, even if I don't know how I'll get there. I used to just write without planning, but I found that my writing was all over the place, so I started planning ahead. I find it much easier to work on elaborating a basic plot, rather than inventing the plot as I go along.

I rarely write anything in order. Usually I start at the beginning, but then I get bored and skip ahead a bit, then I skip ahead a bit more, then I go back and start filling in gaps. Sometimes I start somewhere in the middle and work backwards, then forwards, but I don't think I've ever started at the end and worked backwards. Mostly because I almost never know how a story is going to end. There's one I'm writing that I've already written the end too, but that rarely happens with me. Mostly I just let the story go wherever it wants to.

I always have to write the story in order. I can dream up plot points and I'll write them down and keep running lists, and I sometimes write drafts of the ending because I'll usually know the ending, but I have to actually write the thing in order. Otherwise everything just becomes a mess.

I usually have the ending outlined and then I go from there with the rest of the story. If I started writing my stories in order I wouldn't be able to write as well and get my story out properly. If I have the ending then I know exactly what to write in order to reach it otherwise I'll end up with a really bad writers block.

I don't really write anything in order. Most of the time I don't have the beginning properly figured out before I'm a few chapters in, so I find myself going back to change that a lot. If I know exactly what to write I'll write the ending but usually I just have an idea so I'll make a draft for that and then leave it. Otherwise there's always that one chapter I find myself stuck on, while there are a couple of chapters in the middle which I'm dying to write, so I end up all over the place.

I have to write things in order because what happens in the beginning tends to link a lot to the middle bit and I mostly mention what's happened at the beginning several times in the middle/end of the story.

Actually no, although I've been told that's the best way to go about it. I always start with what will be the beginning of the story and not once have I ever changed the way any story begins. And I always have a good idea where it is going and more often than not a faint idea how it might end.

I don't plan my stories because you can't plan life either, you can make plans in real life about what to study, what job you want and where you're going to live and so on. But things don't always go according to plan and don't always end up the way you thought. So I have my characters set up goals and plans, but that doesn't necessarily mean I make any decisions beforehand as to where they will end up or where the story is headed. I will only have a vague idea where it's going and I will know the point I'm trying to get across with it, what it's meant to convey.

Each individual chapter itself is written from beginning to end but the chapters aren't written in chronological order. After I have written them I will know where they should go and so far it's never been a problem.

I can never usually plan my stories in advance; once I get an idea I just write and write until I can find a suitable ending and then yeah. Written in chapters in a chronological order, according to how the story should go, and how the idea would go. Depending on what I'm writing, I can base it off real-life experiences.

I never write in order, my mind just doesn't work that way. I jump around to the stuff I want to write and then go back and string things together when I've figured out where things need to go. It helps me stay interested in the story and figure out how to make stuff happen, though it probably screws the continuity all to hell.

I usually write in order, but if something comes to me that might be say, ten chapters in the future, I'll write it down so I won't forget it. And I usually know the ending before I even right the first word :cute:

I always write my chapters in order. I think it helps me get a feel for how the characters are progressing in the story, since they're likely to grow throughout it.
