I mean...I do think that it is important for younger girls to be able to access it, especially when we do want to be responsible and take care of the situation. It's hard to do when we can't do it ourselves, and have to run back to our parents, in most cases causing a bigger issue.

Of course, there is the issue of teens (and whoever, basically) taking advantage of this, and being promiscuous. It's hard when it comes to this, because this should obviously not be encouraged, but needs to be taken care of.

I wish it could only be allowed to those of us that are responsible...but there is no clear way of knowing who has the right intentions.
I think that it should be allowed.

The main reason for why there is an age limit is to enforce that parents know that some of their kids are not sexually active sometimes. Although kids can always go and grab a box of condoms. Those I don't know if they have an age limit on them or not. That's all it is; parents don't want their kids to go around having sex freely.

    Why?

I don't know, but that's the way they think. Maybe parenting will change as our generation gets older and our kids might have more freedom than we did.

I think the pill should be avilble to everyone. If a couple didn't have a condom with them, or it broke, they should be able to have a bavk-up plan.

Anyway, I'm sure it's better for a 13/14 to sallow a pill than them giving birth.

Parents can't force teens not to have sex. They will whether their parents want them to or not.

It's true though. My mom doesn't forbid things because she knows that my sister will do them anyway. That's why she's allowed to have whatever friends she wants and wear whatever make-up she wants.

But just because parents won't be effective in stopping their children from doing different things, that doesn't mean that they won't try to anyway. Plus the church [or a conservator government] wouldn't want to leave the impression that they're encouraging sex at a young age.

I don't think that their should be an age limit.
Even if having sex under the age of 16 is illegal.
People are still going to do it.
I think it should be an over the counter thing.

Very true, I Australia we can just pop off to the Chemist and bang! It's there for us, easy access no fuss and no muss. I don't see why it's such a big deal, it'll give them a scare and they'll learn from it.

I agree on an age limit, heres how I see it.

    1. It gives the mentality that a teen can have sex with no consequences, so then they might have more unprotected sex thinking they can just use a morning after pill and they'll be fine, what about STD's? The morning after pill doesn't protect against std's, so even if you don't get pregnant you can still get Aids, I think the pill gives to much false hope.

    2. It may help you not get fertile at the moment, but you can't tell me someone hasn't had complications that may even make a girl sterile. I mean I'm not saying you can't have sex, it's just that I don't think the pill is a great solution to "staying safe"

I think everyone should have access to it. I know people who would still be in high school who have babies because Planned Parenthood was closed and they couldn't get the morning after pill. A lot of teenagers wouldn't tell their parents they needed the pill because they'd be worried about their reaction, and they may not like the results of not doing so, but had they been able to get it on their own, they wouldn't have that problem.

I don't understand why there's an age limit on something that can't really hurt you. I took it 8 times in a year and I'm fine. haha.

    Um...

Don't you think the morning-after pill will just encourage kids to have sex?

I mean, what with birth-control of all sorts and pills and stuff kids are going to think they can have sex without consequences, which definitely is not true.

It's just a bunch of hormones. Like a bunch of birth control all at once. I don't see how that could be harmful unless took wayyyyyyyyy too much or someone happened to have some sort of allergy to that specific hormone.

That's like saying condoms encourage kids to have sex. Or The Pill encourages it. Or sex education.

Exactly. Contraceptives don't encourage kids to have sex; kids encourage kids to have sex.
