Things You Hate to Write

  • i saw sparks:
    French kissing.

I am convinced that there is no sexy way to describe French kissing. I'm not writing any of that "and their tongues battled for dominance" or "his tongue probed along the recesses of her mouth" crap Facepalm
lmfao 'Battled for dominance' has always been my favorite.

I hate kissing too and just... sex scenes. I can't do them, they never live up to my expectations.

For kissing though, I try to work on the outside, rather than... the tongue and all that. It just seems weird, it's like if a movie just put the camera inside the actor's mouths.

  • When I'm writing a sex scene, I hate writing about the removal of clothing. Can't there just be a flash and suddenly "OMG THEY'RE NEKKID!"? I would like if this was a viable technique. Shifty

Have them wear bathing suits XD That's only like, three articles of clothing to get through tehe

Surprisingly, sex is so much easier for me to write than kissing because there's so much more going on that I can write about besides tongues rolling in mouths XD

  • ^ You totally should tehe

I've become a little addicted to writing pool and beach sex lately, so I thought I'd throw that out there XD

Back on topic, I despise writing summaries for chaptered fics. With oneshots, I can kind of bullshit it with lyrics or a quote. Not so easy with chaptered fics Facepalm

    Pool sex FTW tehe

I both love and hate coming up with histories for people/societies. I love it 'cuz it's a fun character study (Imma nerd) but I hate it because I start thinking too hard and want to beat my head against the wall.

  • Dialog between characters that has no point besides having character interaction tehe. I need to work on it.

And yes, frenching. There's only so much you can say about it XD.

Same here. And I agree, there is no sexy way to describe french kissing. The only time I really describe it is when it's an angry french kiss with teeth gnashing together and people biting lips and such. Otherwise, I kind of just dance my way around the action all together. Shifty

    ^ I'm the opposite.

I love writing characters with different opinions than mine. It forces you to open your mind to try and understand why they would legitimately think that way without ignorance being the cause (though sometimes it is just ignorance). I really like writing someone with deep seeded logic against my own. It's just interesting, though I dislike how people assume that what my characters believe is what I believe. It's not always the case.
Exactly. I think it's so interesting to try to think with the mind of people who are so filled with hate, because it's so completely opposite from me.

Beginnings. I always always have trouble with the first couple chapters, but I hate skipping over them and leaving them unfinished too. Ugh.

Oh, and I really hate when my main character meets his/her future significant other. It's like, I know they're going to get together, the reader knows it too, so why can't I just skip over all of the relationship development crap?

  • I hate summaries. I always manage to make anything I've written sound utterly lame when summarising.
And, well, anything sexual. I'm a bit of a prude...

Agreed. Most the time, I end up sounding like a dorky TV show announcer xD

    YES. Twitch

I'm actually trying to write one ATM, and it's just.... it sucks so bad.

  • Am I the only one who loves to write sex scenes?

But what I hate writing is fluff and making out, I just don't know what to write, my mind just goes blank.

  • I hate writing sex scenes, I don't like smut yet I'm trying to make it obvious they're having sex without going into detail ._.

  • The Beatles:
Am I the only one who loves to write sex scenes?
Nope. I love writing them, too.

I do hate writing emotions. I just never feel that I've truly conveyed what the character feels.

  • That awkward transitioning through scenes. I don't know why, but when reading books and you can tell time has gone by, I envy that so much. I don't know why but I always write strictly one scene after another and then put large spaces between them. I can't do transitions at all.

  • Dialogue definetly.

  • I wouldn't say I hate it, but I find writing sex scenes kind of hard. It's the sex part that gets me. I can do the foreplay and all, but the sex process is hard (if it's supposed to be romantic) the only way I can write it with ease, is if it's almost scandalous and has no emotion behind it, like in my story Dream Life (well... the beginning part) hence the reason why I don't like romances or write them.

I also hate writing climatic parts. It's hard because I want the reader to really feel it so I think a lot on how to write it. I usually procrastinate when I know I'm going to write a part like that soon and hold off on the story for a bit. I eventually get it over with, though, after I put my head to it.. I did that a lot with Extranormal.

Obviously I don't like writing romances. I don't like reading them either. To be blunt, it kind of makes me sick reading about it sometimes. I don't get all coo faced and stuff about that kind of stuff. I tend to come off as really apathetic emotionally and truthfully, I kind of am. I don't sound like I mean it when I tell people I'm sorry about something (although I do mean it), or I don't seem like I feel bad about some things. I don't like romantic people. That's also why I don't read a lot of stories written by people on this site, and my peers in general because most of ya'll and them write romances.

  • On the sex theme, I don't like writing explicit sex, but non-explicit sex is fun. Especially blowjobs. Shifty I think I just hate writing explicit sexual intimacy, though, 'cause I hate writing kissing too, I find it so awkward to describe.
