Well, this year, we did a combination of book groups (which aren't that serious, I promise)/film and theatre trips/pub quizzes and literary-themed pub crawls. The most popular event last year was a a debate on modern fiction, so I think we're doing more debates this year. We're a fairly new society so things are still sort of being made up as we go along, but I've really enjoyed being a part of it. You'll probably sign up for about 10 different things in the first week and forget about most of them, so you might as well give everything that appeals to you a try.

I finally recieved my accommodation offer. It's in a self catered part of Holland Annexe - I didn't apply there and don't know much about it, but I'm just thankful I have somewhere to live at this stage. Once my matriculation form arrives I finally can relax and start to breathe

^Just the term starting dates and registration and moving into accommodation seem to be really messed up

It's like, I move in on the 18th, term starts the 20th but they sent out an email saying we're expected to go do part two of our registration on the 12th and it just feel more a circus than a university.

Okay, I have another question. I'm just reading my contract for my accommodation tenancy and it says that the amount of rent payable to them is £0.00. I'm dead confused

I have no idea I would assume it's a typo. Welcome to the University of Edinburgh - where everything doesn't make sense all the time. But I love it anyway.

I went to the Glasgow Open day on Wednesday and it was amazing - because I'm from the south side, I always forget how amazing Glasgow (specifically the West End) can be!

I'm going to the Edinburgh one on Saturday the 25th
