Kubrick is my absolute favorite of all the directors out there. All of his work is simply amazing. A clockwork orange still stands as one of my favorite movies of all time. I mean with a resume such as Dr. Strangelove, Full metal Jacket, The shining, 2001: ASO, He is definitely one of the best out there.

Miyazaki should come up for his animated work which is all excellent.

Aronofsky should also be mentioned. Pi was a great movie and Requiem for a dream had excellent direction. I heard black swan had great direction as well.

Christopher Nolan had some great pieces as well. I can't wait to see what else he can pull off. Memento in itself pretty much puts him on the list.

Fincher has some really good films as well. He deserves at least a mention on the list.

Those are the ones that I can think of off the top of my head as great directors.

MARTIN GODDAMN SCORSESE. In Love His films own my life.

    And:
    - Francis Ford Coppola in the seventies; Apocalypse Now - I don't care particularly about the story. It's the atmosphere that makes it amazing (as well as Martin Sheen and Marlon Brando). AND THE GODFATHER?! Damnnnn.
    - Quentin Tarantino; his films are just so... awesome and will never not be awesome.

Alfred Hitchcock, his work is incredible particularly Psycho! Stanley Kubrick i mean the scene in the elevator of the blood in The Shining is just genius, they are probably two of my favourite directors but i have many like Tim Burton, Michael Winterbottom (Trishna is an amazing film by Michael Winterbottom if you ever get a chance to see it or seen it) Christopher nolan and so on
