99.9% of the time (not gonna lie) it's female characters.

Glorified self-insertion characters. You know the ones where the character has the author's name, but instead of having the author's characteristics, it's all the characteristics the author wishes they had? Yeah, that.

    Characters that speak in lyrics.

OOC characters. (Obviously doesn't much apply to original characters.)

Two-dimensional "evil" characters that are only evil because the author doesn't like them.

Female characters who say they are in love with their boyfriend/husband/lover/fiancé or whatever, but repeatedly cheat - not like 'got drunk and kissed a stranger' but 'seduced co-worker and then has sex with him in his bed, in a car, in work and god knows where else' - but then try to make excuses for it. "It helps me cope with stress." D=

Female characters who are written to make you like them. If you know what you mean - when the author blatantly wants you to fall head over heels for this girl, and tries to convince you of this by having every guy fall face first for her, and you're spoon-fed the idea that she's special.

Female characters who get instructions off a boss or a superior - and she ignores them, and when questioned about it, she starts shouting and telling her boss where to stick it, and she doesn't get even the slightest telling off for it. And when she never suffers the consequences of her actions. Like the author is deliberately worming her out of sticky situations.I'm obviously not talking about a certain Miss Cooper of Torchwood.

^ Meow, on the Welsh Wonder Woman comment. I agree.

Characters who are too pretty or too Luna-Lovegood weird.

Make them weird or pretty if you want to, but don't use that instead of proper characterisation.

The preppy, blond girl that's a mega bitch and hates the main character. Oh, and of course she's a slut.
Why can't the slut be a red head that listens to death metal?

I hate the female characters who are really mean and bitchy but her boyfriend can't see it, only his friends can. I've done that before, but I'm trying not to now.

Characters that never show any emotion, due to the writer.

Characters that are there with no purpose to the plot (or thickening of the backstory). There will always be nameless faces in all books, but in a story, naming a character means they are important (in my thoughts at least). It gets to me when someone explains an unimportant character in detail for god knows what reason.

As for personalities of chracters, I suppose unreal characters... Ones that you know are just too perfect to be human, or too cruel to be truly there. The only exception would be one being written with a specific character's viewpoint in mind. You can then make it seem someone is perfect (as long as the story somehow fixes that belief down the line).

Agreed, especially on the female characters bit, and self-insertion ones. They are usually the same thing though, but some times the self-inserted female character has a "pretty" unique name instead of her own boring one.

I could rant for hours about how much that annoys me ::Ranting:

    I hate 'perfect' characters.
The ones that just...have no flaws, they're beautiful, and the perfect weight and have perfect skin and perfect eyes and perfect hair and never do anything wrong.
It's like...what is there to write about after that? :|

    And 'random' ones.
Who'll just randomly shout like..."Bananas" in the middle of a serious discussion.

No worries there... I have a story on hiatus (no longer on Mibba, took it down after a year of no updating) that the very first chapter doesn't even mention who he is, nor does half the second... Simply because it brings out how Mysterious he is.
It's just the ones that are like. "Oh, hello Joe." "Hi" <insert explanation of Joe>.
And after that, there is no other mention of 'Joe' in the entire story =/ It's like "well, why did I ever even have to learn who Joe was?

Characters that are always depressed and over the top for no apparent or good reason. The ones you can just sense demand some sympathy from the readers.

And overly immature characters, also not for any good reason; or characters that are just bad for the sake of it. Cardboard cutouts. :file:

Also those characters that are obviously just a pack of scene kids.

Its mostly the cliche characters that annoy me most.

The "punk" girl whose always so hardcore and awesome with "sarcastic" undertones to everything she says. Then she finds out thats shes as sweet as candy and looses all sarcasm half way through the story because she's "in love".

The emo/goth girl who has down to their butt black hair with ice blue/green/red/white streaks and cool mood ring eyes. Her step mom/dad is abusive and their real mom/dad is dead/doesn't love them enough to care. They're dirt poor but she obviously stole that iPod, $3000 computer, and all her $100 pants because they're poor and can't afford even food half the time.

The dark and mysterious new guy at school whose just so attractive because he stands against the lockers at school and looks at girls. Who everybody hates but he's such a rebel and doesn't care it makes him even more dark and mysterious.

The jock guys/cheerleader girls who are ALWAYS bitches. They like to pick on nerds and geeks and call the emos and goths fat and stupid and a waste of life.

The stupid main character that jumps at everything shiny, has nervous breakdowns in class because they can't climb the walls, and will pounce on their best friend's back in the hallway at school. Immature freaks.
They annoy the hell out of me. Even if there are people like that in real life (me...) they don't work in story's and I want to kill them and whoever made them up.
And I hate how them being 'random' somehow makes them super cool. It doesn't. It makes them annoying and really rather retarded.

And yeah. All those flat, obvious characters that get regurgitated every time someone wants a heroine/villain.

It all makes me think 'please at least have your characters make a nodding acquaintance with reality'.

    It just angers me.

The character who is in their 20s but runs around like they're on crack most of the time.

Basically a character who acts like they're five and gets exciteable at the most stupid of things... oh, and don't you dare ever give them anything with sugar in it because then they'll be COMPLETELY off the wall.

Well, you know. Mary Sue type traits. Here's a list that get on my nerves.

Cute, funny, weird, bubbly, giggly, (I hate it when it's in first person and the character describes herself for the camera---beautiful long blond hair with pink tips (OMG!), skinny jeans and a white tank top), artistic, loves to act, sing, dance, and write poetry. Is better than everyone else, has a mom and a dad, and has high self esteem.

All those traits, up there, are a perfect example of what makes up a 2D character. More appearance traits than personality traits. No negative traits, or, if any, very little. But, pleanty of perfect traits. Because, of course, that's what the readers wanna read, right? Wrong. -.-

    Done with my rant.

Agreed. It's okay in small doses, because some people are like that, but when it's ALL the time, throughout the entire story, it just gets really annoying to read. I would say "especially when it's a guy" but in all honestly, it's just as annoying with the girls.

I don't like it when a character is all the time, every day sad. Never happy, always sad, and for no reason. It annoys me.

Or, when a character is extreme. Bright pink hair, gold eyes, size D breasts, excells in everything or fails everything. Why can't there be a nice middle with them?! I haven't really seen anything on Mibba like this, but on other sites....Yeah.
