^same here (although I can't say I hate Tarantino because it's the only movie I've seen so far that he's made). I was expecting it to be pretty okay, but god, I adored it. The whole cast was just fantastic, especially Christoph Waltz and Eli Roth (whom I've loved for awhile).
Inception. My expectations were kind of high, but I kind of thought it wouldn't be as good as everybody said it was, but I was very pleasently surprised at just how good it was. It's one of my favorites now.
Also, Easy A. I thought it was going to be kind of stupid because of the trailer, but I randomly decided to watch it a few nights ago and I loved it. I was cracking up through pretty much the whole thing. I know some critics don't like it because it's "super liberal," but honestly, I really don't care. I had a fun time watching it.
My Own Private Idaho.
I don't like Gus Van Sant, but this movie was just great. Stand By Me used to be my favorite River Phoenix movie, but nope. Not anymore.
What surprised me the most, though, was that Keanu Reeves was actually really good in this movie. I kind of loved him.
