Fall Out Boy the third

  • ^ I take it those are his own words?
Hrm. If so, that's an awfully questionable decision.
    February 5th, 2010 at 04:22am
  • But it's one we all have to respect.

His reasoning behind his actions are honest, but not such a great idea.

  • Man, if Fob split because Pete wasn't taking his meds... I swear. -_- That boy. I guess it's understandable though, it's good he's thinking of Bronx.

  • -sighs-
Yes, thoes were his own words...
And, I really think he needs to start them again though, I respect his decision, its just...really, itd be for the best of the band and his family...Shifty

  • My friend told me yesterday that they were splitting up might be splitting up...Now I know it's true :/

I wasn't a huuuge fan, but I like them, so it's kinda disappointing.

  • Ok, c'mon guys. Nothing is definite.
From their own mouths-- or keyboards, I suppose-- they are not together as of now,
However there is nothing that says they will not be back together in the future.
Give them a few years & I have a feeling they'll be stoked to play together again.
As much as FOB is a part of who we are, it's 8927360823746 times more a part of them.

Until then, don't worry about it, & keep busy enjoying/anticipating their other various projects ;D

  • ^ True, but if I'm still kinda grr at Pete now.

I mean if he really needed those meds to stay alright in the head it seems kinda ignorant to me that he would stop taking them. I'd rather have a relatively sane dad that takes pills "when he doesn't look sick" than to have one that is miserable and unstable because he is trying to be "clean". Unless he was abusing them, he would be "clean" even if he was taking them. (if that makes sense?) If that's what he is honestly doing right now, that makes me pretty mad.
It's a shame really; I was really starting to enjoy being okay with Pete. I hope I don't turn back into a hater. (Those suck, but at least this time I'd have more solid reasons.)

Still, I agree, let's make an effort not to turn into a doom and gloom forum, especially when half of our worst news is merely speculation.

Yeah, I agree. I'm really sad they they may be breaking up, but if Pete feels he needs to do it for his kid then so be it. I hope what you said is right.

So what's everyone's opinion on Pete leaving? For instance if this 'break' was caused by Pete wanting a break/wanting to quit, would you rather FOB break up permanently (maybe until Pete comes back) or carry on without him?

    Hypothetically, of course.
    February 6th, 2010 at 06:10pm
  • They're going to do a Blink 182
    February 6th, 2010 at 06:46pm
  • Hi.
    /totalintrusion
I just lurked on by to see if you guys knew anything more about the break(up) than I did, but I guess not. So...

@Abbycus Forensicus This is selfish beyond measure, I know, but I really don't think I could look at FOB the same with someone other than Pete on bass. That goes for all the members. It just wouldn't be the same, y'know?
    February 6th, 2010 at 09:52pm
  • Nobody really knows much about it.
Even members of the band are saying they don't know.
Keep an eye on blogs/Twitters, I suppose.
Although I think they're all getting sick of hearing about it/being asked about it.

Also, I don't think it was one member's decision/actions that brought on this break.

I agree totally. I think earlier in their career, when I first started listening to them, they had more individual personality, and Pete's really stood out. He's always been my favorite member of Fall Out Boy because he appears to have a better image that he brings to the band, and plus he's a brilliant lyricist.

I hope whatever they decide to do they're all happy and stay friends, I'd hate to see this screw up the relationships between the boys.

  • I'm just really glad I got to see them In Dec '08, before all of this happened.
    That is all.
    February 8th, 2010 at 02:34pm
  • I feel that they should wait... not go on with out him. But most defintely not break up permenately.

Think of the brightside, PATRICK IS COMING OUT WITH A SOLO ALBUM Crazy That could be like, something good to anticipate. Plus Andy and Joe in that new band.
    February 8th, 2010 at 09:00pm
  • No one thought Blink 182 would ever come back, I didn't when they broke up when I was like 15.

FOB will do the same, I know it.

The more people hassle them about FOB then they aren't having a break from it are they?
    February 8th, 2010 at 09:02pm
  • I only have one thing to say here; Without Pete, this band is jack-shit, and we all know it.

Go ahead now, bash me and call me a bitch, not a true fan.

Because, I am a true fan. Let's be honest, Patrick's coming out with a solo that he probably wrote the lyrics for, but I can guarantee you that they're not Fall out Boy lyrics. They're gunna be different, with a different feel. So, even if the band DID/DOES go on with out him, it won't be the same.

Nope, I completely agree. Without him they aren't Fall Out Boy. And I love Patrick, to bits but if I don't like his solo stuff [which I'd be surprised if I didn't] then I wont listen to it.

I don't think they would want to go on without Pete anyway, or at least I like to think they wouldn't.
Also I'm not normally this protective but I don't like all this Pete hating or being angry at him, we're mainly just asuming it's all his fault it could have other variables to it as well, it might not just be him.
    February 8th, 2010 at 09:50pm
  • No one knows the full story, Pete doesn't hate anyone, he expresses his luck for Patrick.

They're sick of FOB, it happens.

"We just haven't had the time to say anything. All I have been able to do is say, 'Man, I miss doing Fall Out Boy,' and I got to a better place hanging out with my son. Now I'm OK if Fall Out Boy comes back or doesn't come back. Like, if it's fun for everyone to do again, we're going to do it … I just want it to be authentic when we come back."

-Pete Wentz a few days ago I believe.

Blink-182 broke up on bad terms. Fall Out Boy's hiatus seems to be the opposite. They'll be back when they're ready, I'm sure.
