I don't know about you, but to me music is all about feelings. It's the way that the songs, the lyrics, the melody makes me feel that's important.

- I feel like I'm really going to like Dirty Work. I like the new direction they're going in musically. When I listen to songs, it's more about the overall feeling than specifically lyrics or beats. The songs we've heard thus far haven't given us a full view of the musical/ lyrical/ productional value of the album. They've always been pop-ish, so I don't know why people are surprised they're going for the same vibe. Not every song is going to be this prophetic teenage anthem on being yourself or something sappy like that. They're a band that likes to have fun. So I'm happy with them if they decide to write about parties, because that's what they live. Then again, we can't count on all of the songs to be like this. They're exploring a new direction and I'm all for it.
I see a lot of you on this forum have kind of fallen out of love. And I get that. We all grow up and change our tastes. I'm not too naive to think I won't too fall out of love with All Time Low some day. But I feel as if we look to highly upon them and hold them up to the standard of PUOSU (which half of it was about sex and parties anyway). I think of this album as a new step. They're older and their tastes are older, just like ours. I'm sure I will love these new songs as much as I love the older ones, each for their own reason. (I listen to I Feel Like Dancin when I'm sad and want to cheer up as I would Weightless or The Party Scene. When I want inspiration, I listen to Lullabies or Therapy or Jasey Rae or Hometown Heroes.) I love All Time Low and I know that I will at least always respect them forever. I wish that this forum could go back to being excited for the band and upcoming tours, songs, videos, etc. =)
I just went to the Dirty Work tour last week, and it was by far the best concert I've ever been to. They're still the same four boys that love the stage that I've seen time and time before.
I don't really care what the lyrics are about as long as they speak to me.
ATL used to have this. They used to have songs that made you happy, sad, angry, upset, whatever. It doesn't matter what emotion, but at least they made you feel something with their songs. The lyrics weren't as obvious as they are now, you had to think for a bit to understand what Alex was really saying (in most of the older stuff) and he had a way with words that I found truly amazing.
Fast forward to NP and suddenly they lost all of that. I don't care that the songs are about partying, girls and living the rockstar dream. What I care about and what makes me upset and frustrated is that suddenly the songs have no depth to them. It's all so shallow. It's like turning on the radio, all those songs that just pass you by without grasping your attention, yeah, that's what ATL has become.
I'm not saying they have to be all dark and emotional but I want them to be real. Poppin' Champagne and The Beach aren't "deep" tracks but they make you happy. They make you wanna get up and dance and be as crazy as you like.
I don't expect them to not have matured since TPS and PUOSU and I don't expect them to go backwards in their music career. However, I do wish that Alex would take a look at what he's written and ask himself, "is this really from my heart?" 'cause tbh, it doesn't feel like it is.
