Heaven's Not Enough

Krahe rolled her eyes, closing the door behind her. She eyed the dress dubiously for a moment before sighing and taking off her current outfit and then putting the dress on. She looked at herself in the mirror for a moment, gave a small shake of her head, and then opened the door to the room.

Shax shifted his gaze to the now open door, then froze as he saw her. Straightening he stared at her, eyes wide as he took in her body in the dress, "Jeez... it fits you like a glove." He grinned as his eyes met hers, "Now we just need to find you a head piece." he took her hand and lead her around the room again, "A head piece and some shoes."

Krahe tried to stop him as he tried to take her back into the room. "Wait a minute, what about my clothes?" she asked with a frown. She didn't exactly feel entirely comfortable in the dress she was wearing either, and so that didn't help.

"It'll be fine. We'll get them later." He continued to guide her around, stopping at the jewelry section. He searched until he found the perfect headpiece. There was a blue tear drop jewel set between two wings. He though it was coincidental and he picked it up, placing it gently on her head so that the jewel blinked against her brow. Then he picked up silver jeweled heels and handed them to her, "Perfect," he said with a grin.

Krahe sighed, slightly in exasperation at him and bit down some sort of remark that would have passed her lips as he practically ignored her and kept going on. When he looked like he was done, she raised an eyebrow at him. "You're really going this far because of a dinner you're supposed to be having with your family?"

Shax sighed, "Lovely, this isn't just any ordinary dinner. My father demands that - twice a week - we attend dinner in formal attire. I'm going in a tux, so don't feel too left out. But, do not - ever - remove your headpiece. Think of it as an engagement ring." He smiled, "So I hope you like it. I would get you something more expensive and flashy if you don't, but my family is expecting low quality stuff from me... even if I kind of like this one over the more extravagant headpieces out there." Then he quickly ripped all the price tags off of the items and turned to the register, "You can change back into your regular stuff now." He said as he went to pay.

Krahe went back to the changing room and quickly changed back into her clothes. She sighed, glancing into the dinner. She hadn't even made it a full day yet, and already she felt tired. She ran a hand through her hair, half out of exasperation and half out of frustration, then headed back, knowing that she had to eventually, anyway, holding the dress and shoes in her arms. "Well, I'm ready," she said. 'Or as ready as I'll ever be,' she thought, and it was true.

Shax was waiting for her at the registers and when she walked up he took the dress and shoes from her, zipping the gown in to protective bag and putting the heels in a box. Then he draped the bag over his arm and wrapped his other arm around the box before smiling at her, "So, we still have a couple hours before the dinner. Do you want a quick snack or would you like to do something else?" He asked as he lead her from the store.

Krahe watched as he bundled the two things in his arms, chuckling a bit to herself at how he looked like that. "Do you want some help carrying that stuff?" she offered. She didn't think she had ever heard of an angel and demon acting civilized to each other, much less be somewhat nice, but here they were, and it felt a bit odd to her. Still, she guessed they were going to be around each other for a little while, so they might as well try to get along anyway while it lasted.

Shax shrugged, "You can if you want. I really don't mind." He grinned at her - his signature boyish smile - and lead her down the street, heading away from the warehouse, "I suppose - since we're engaged and all - that I should show you my home. It's not too far from here, and small, but it's a lot better then living at my dad's place."

Krahe shrugged. "Just thought I would offer," she said as he started walking again. Even though she had only been here less than a day and walked through the town a couple of times, and not even all of it, she could tell where a couple of places were and a little bit of direction, and she noticed as he started talking again that they weren't headed towards the warehouse. She raised an eyebrow at him. "You do realize I'm not actually engaged to you, right?" she asked, falling into step next to him.

Shax laughed, "Love, for all intents and purposes we are engaged. Might as well act like it." he continued to lead her around, this time staying clear from the stage, "Just go with it, okay? As long as we 'play' that we're engaged my father will most likely believe, but if one person sees us not acting and tells him? Well, it doesn't take much for him to start killing."

"Well then, I guess it's a good thing no one will believe that I actually agreed to this," Krahe said, giving a small shake of her head. "Otherwise, this little charade probably wouldn't work." She fell silent as they walked, fingering the necklace she wore. She remembered when she had gotten the ring when she was a kid, and in order to prevent her from losing it, her father had put it on a chain for her. She hadn't taken it off since.

Shax noticed her playing with some ring around her neck, "What's that?" He ask just as they came up onto a wooded area. He lead her through it, and soon he could see his home through the trees. He shifted the bag and box a little as he waited for her to answer.

At his question, Krahe let go of the ring and let her hand fall back to her side. "Nothing," she said quietly, then noticed that they had come upon a house in the woods. "Is that your home?" she asked, half wondering, and half hoping to distract his attention. She looked over at him as he shifted the things in his hands.

Shax nodded, "Yup, home sweet home." He smiled at her, "And don't think I've forgotten about that necklace. You'll answer me eventually." He lead her to the door and waited there, arms still full.

"It's not important." Krahe sighed as they went to the door and he just stood there; she watched him for a moment and sighed again. "Okay look, my father arranged something when I was little," she said, crossing her arms over her chest. "They put the ring on the chain so I wouldn't lose it, and I just haven't taken it off," she shrugged.

Shax frowned, studying her face before he started laughing, "You're already engaged, aren't you? Who is it?" He asked, "and how pissed is he gonna be when he realizes you're engaged and madly in love with me?" He grinned as he asked.

Krahe rolled her eyes. "Yeah, I might be madly in love with you in your dreams," she said. "And I haven't even seen him in a couple of years. He's been on earth for a while." She shrugged. She shook her head at his laughing and grinning. "I'm starting to think you find everything funny," she said.

Shax shrugged the juggled the things in his arms around to open the door, "With my life growing up? I had to learn to find enjoyment and laughter in everything." He stepped back to let her in before him, "So what's his name? Do I know him - or of him?"
