New Girl in Town : Closed

She nodded and leaned up to press a kiss to his cheek. "You know where I live," she said quietly.

Rian watched her leave before getting into his own car. How could he have been so stupid to let his emotions assume something else. He had noticed in her eyes that she still loved him. He had to make her see how much he still cared and how much this news wasn't going to change anything. He started his car and headed towards the nearest Target. He knew he had to be discreet in case her dad didn't know about it, but this was important to him. Once at Target, he got out and headed towards the one aisle he hardly ever took notice of. He found the one thing he thought would work and then left the store after making the purchase. He wanted her to understand how he was feeling, but at the same time he wanted to shoulder the burden for her. Getting back into his car, he headed to a few more stores before he finally heading home. He was still planning on going to Clara's, but he had a few things to do before actually heading over there.

Clara stepped into her house, locking the door behind her. She dropped her bag by the door and then headed into the bathroom. She turned on the water, plugging the tub so that it filled with water. After pouring some scented oil into the water, she started undressing. As she slipped into the water, she let out a sigh.

Rian slammed the front door as he walked into his house, loaded down with his purchases.

"Hey, don't slam that door," his mom yelled from the kitchen.

"Sorry, mom!" he yelled, before taking the stairs two at a time to get to his room.

He set to work with his project once inside his room. This was going to take awhile, but he knew that once it was going to be finished it would be amazing. It was only going to be a small version for now, but he hoped that she would like it. About an hour into working on his project, there was a knock at his door.

"Rian, mom said dinner's ready," Scarlett's voice said through the door.

"I'm not hungry. I'll get something later," he answered, staying focused on his project.

He heard her sigh before her footsteps left down the hall. He returned his full attention to his project. Another hour passed and he was all done. He carefully placed the finished product into a small box. He finished wrapping it and then grabbed his keys and wallet again. He ran down the stairs and towards the front door.

"Rian, what is with all the commotion?" his mom stopped him.

"Sorry, just making something for someone important. I'll be back later. Don't wait up. I'll grab food on the road, promise!" he said before leaving the house again. He climbed into his car and then headed towards another store. He ran in and grabbed some of Clara's favorite things before finally heading towards Clara's house again.

Clara had been reading her favorite Harry Potter book, when she'd dozed off in the bath. When she heard a loud knocking from the front door, she was startled awake. Luckily, she managed to catch her book before it fell into the water. Taking only a moment to wake up fully, she placed the book on the counter and stood up, quickly toweling herself dry. She wrapping her green cotton robe around her body, and then made her way towards the front door. She swung it open, slightly surprised at seeing Rian.

"Hey," she murmured quietly.

"Hi," he said, giving her a small smile. He took in her appearance and felt his heart melt all over again at seeing her. "I came with some gifts for you. As a peace offering for allowing my emotions to make unnecessary assumptions about you and Daniel," he said, holding up the small bag and small box.

Clara took the gifts from him before stepping back to allow him to enter the house.

Rian walked into the house, trying to ignore the memory of the last time he was here. He sat down on the couch after walking into the living room. He hoped she liked everything. He was definitely nervous on how she'd react to the small box.

Clara sat down on the opposite end of the couch, careful to keep her robe closed as she did so. She chose to open the bag first, smiling softly when she saw a little stuff panda bear, and her favorite type of Godiva chocolate. She then opened the little box, freezing when she saw what laid inside. She slowly pulled the little wooden carving of a baby crib out, feeling tears prickle at the corners of her eyes.

He watched her carefully. "I want to be there for you and our baby. Before I lost my dad he taught me about woodwork. He and I would spend hours making little figurines and sometimes even larger items. That only took me two hours, but if you'll let me be in your life and our baby's life, I can make him or her a larger version of that," he said.

Clara leaned forward, wrapping her arms around his neck. She burst into tears, unable to utter a word.

He pulled her onto his lap and wrapped his arms around as he held her against him. The last thing he wanted was to make her cry. He pressed his lips to her head as he rocked her gently against him. "I love you, Clara. I will always love you," he whispered softly.

"I love you too," she murmured, pulling back just far enough to press her lips against his. "I'm sorry. I'm so sorry. I was stupid. I shouldn't have...have broken it off. But I just d-didn't want to come between your family."

He kissed her deeply, before looking at her. "You could never come between me and my family. If anything, my family is what came between us. Assumptions were made because Scarlett was a little bitch to me. She's getting better now, because she's been getting help for her issues. We are getting closer again," he smiled, brushing her hair out of her face. "When did you find out?" he asked resting a hand on her stomach.

She wiped her face with the sleeve of her robe, and smiled slightly. "I figured it out the night you saw me and Dan in the store." she murmured, quietly.

He kissed the top of her head again. "Have you had your first doctor's appointment yet?"

"Not yet, I want to tell my dad before I went. I feel like I owe him that much atleast." She said softly, picking at her nail polish.

He nodded. "How are you feeling? Has there been morning sickness?"

"Not so much morning sickness, I just randomly get queasy at random parts of the day." she said softly, shifting herself on his lap. .

He lowered his head to her neck and inhaled deeply. He missed how she smelled, as weird as that might be. He pressed his lips to her neck and kissed it lightly. When she shifted against him, he felt himself harden a little. And knowing that she was only wearing a robe, made his mind go even crazier with thoughts of being close to her again.
