(I am so sorry this has taken me so long
)
As Rennyn disappeared into the bathroom, most likely to take off the minimal amount of make-up forced upon him, and Della went off to tuck Abby into bed, Leilah took the opportunity to take off the shoes she'd been forced into. She'd walked fine in them even never having worn any sort of heels before -something which could be contributed to the natural grace of an angel- but she did find them uncomfortable and so it was the first thing she did. It wasn't like she could really do anything else, considering right then she had nothing to change into, so she made do with simply getting rid of the shoes. Leilah wasn't really used to shoes anyway, except for the short periods of time she was forced to wear them in public to keep up the appearance of a human.
Then Rennyn returned, right as she was finishing getting off the second shoe. She finished unbuckling it, then kicked it to the side where the other was and stood up straight. She noticed almost immediately the strange look he had on his face, which made her certain she didn't want to know what he was thinking. She'd done exactly that in the beginning but had learned since then. "No, I think I'll take it off here," she said and then whisked by him into the bathroom, closing the door behind her if for no other reason than so she didn't have to see him. She then began to, bit by bit, remove the make-up with the wipes Della had. It felt like a ton of muck coming off her face, and she was glad when it was finally done and she was drying her face.
By the time she came out of the bathroom, after having thrown away the make-up wipes, Della was in the living room again and Rennyn, of course, was doing his best not to look bored. It was becoming painfully obvious to Leilah she had been here too long, since she was noticing the demon's behavior. She was starting to get to where she could read his moods without much indication at all, and she wasn't sure she liked that thought in the least.
"Well," she feigned a yawn as she stepped into Della's line-of-sight. Leilah was more tired at night than in the day certainly, a lot more than Rennyn, but at that moment she was really too excited about Kristopher's appearance to even consider sleep. That was information not to be shared with Della though, and Leilah didn't feel like lingering anyhow. "I think I'm kind of tired. Ren and I should head back to our apartment. It was fun to go trick-or-treating with you and Abby though." She barely kept herself from making a face at the whole thing, suddenly dissatisfied beyond reason with this situation of hers again, but somehow kept it to herself.
And Rennyn didn't even seem to pick up on it for all his observation, she thought somewhat proudly.
