She didn't mean to fall in love with him. The relationship that Adeline Turner, Addy to her friends, had with Bucky Barnes had been casual at best. Or, that was what Addy told herself it was anyway. It was for the best. She'd known that he'd be getting his orders soon, so she couldn't really afford any sort of emotional attachment, but the heart and the brain were two very different things. And that was something that Addy discovered the moment Bucky had told her he'd gotten his orders and that he'd be getting shipped off to England in a couple of days. And when he did leave, it hit her hard. Of course, she didn't expect to be sent over a few months later. And she also didn't realize that she'd be sent over to the same exact camp that the 107th had been stationed. "You're all set, soldier." She said, sending a kind smile the man's way as she finished bandaging him up. "How're you holding up, over there?" Her attention shifted over to Roma Patridge, a woman whom she had only met recently, though also someone who she befriended rather quickly. Before she could get a response, one of the other nurses spoke. "You're going to want to see this, girls." She told them both, poking her head into the medical tent.
There was a smile on Steve's face as he led the men from the 107th, his best friend Bucky Barnes included, back to camp. Those who weren't inside the tents, watched with wide-eyes, and in awe, as he did so. It was fairly obvious that no one had expected him to come back alive, let alone with all of the men who had been captured by Hydra. He'd been underestimated, however, that wasn't really something that mattered to him. He'd proved them wrong, but what mattered was that he'd gotten them back safely, that and he'd saved his best friend. He didn't know what he would have done if something had happened to Bucky. They weren't just friends, they were brothers.
