Chris spun around quickly when he heard the door slam, shining his light in that direction. His heart was beating extremely fast, he could hear it pounding in his ears. He took a few long breaths, trying not to freak out. "Real funny, guys," Chris said loudly in what he hoped was a steady voice, though he could feel himself shaking. "Hilarious, truly." He handed Sophia the flashlight and let go of her hand, jogging back to the door. He gave the doorknob a twist, but when he tried to pull the door open, it wouldn't move. "Guys let go, c'mon," Chris said, pulling on the door again. He couldn't hear anyone on the other side, but it still wasn't moving. "Fine, we'll go out the other door, assholes," Chris said, more for Sophia than for his friends, if they were on the other side. He didn't want her to freak out. He headed back to her with a reassuring smile, though he knew it probably looked forced, and put an arm around her, continuing towards the other door.
Peggy turned her face towards Emmett's shoulder and closed her eyes when the light revealed a dead body on the ground. If the fence made her regret coming, this really made her regret coming. "Okay, I think it's time to leave the basement," Peggy said opening her eyes. When she opened her eyes, however, instead of seeing complete darkness, she could see two eyes at her eye level across the room, reflecting in the light of the flashlight. She didn't move, just staring back, for a few seconds, but then the eyes shut and the eyes were gone. "Emmett, someones down here," Peggy whispered, swallowing hard.
