Essence smiled lightly, "Before I snapped and became this crazy chick. I used to teach Art at a local high school and a community center." She shrugged it off. "Art was my pass time." She smiled at him.
"Art is fun," Matt said. "You don't seem like a teacher though. And you're not crazy. You don't seem crazy to me. But then again, I'm crazy too so maybe I just don't see it." He shrugged and looked over when people started getting up. "We can go to the rec room now. Maybe you can make some new friends."
Matt looked at her. "You don't," he murmured. "Aside from your hair, you actually seem pretty normal. I've never really met anyone before with hair like that. Except my one friend Johnny. He likes to dye his hair different colors, but never pink."
"Is it hard to upkeep?" Matt asked curiously, raising an eyebrow as he casually reached up and touched her hair. His hand quickly retreated when he realized he probably shouldn't be touching her like that.
Matt smiled slightly and ran his fingers through her hair. It was surprisingly soft, but he knew after being here for a while, it probably wouldn't be in the best shape. They didn't have the best shampoos here, and no conditioner. Not like he made a fuss about hair products, but it was something he'd noticed.
Essence smiled watching him take and run his fingers through her hair. She smiled lightly and lent over running her hand over his head slightly before pulling back and smiling at him.
Matt smiled, feeling like he could really relate to this girl. They had so much in common and for once in the past year, he finally felt like an actual person again. He pulled his hand away from her when a nurse called his name, biting his lip. "We're not really allowed to touch each other," he said.
Essence took and frowned a little as she narrowed her eyes back at the nurse, "That's kind of stupid. But understandable." She whispered biting on her lip and frowned a little. She actually loved him touching her hair.
Matt shrugged slightly. "I guess it's not appropriate," he shrugged, looking at her. He sat down on a couch and smiled at her, patting the seat next to him before he grabbed a magazine.
Essence sat down beside of him and picked at her nails. She glanced around the place taking everyone in. She bit down on her lip letting a soft sigh escape from her lips.
Matt looked over at her and bit his lip gently, grabbing another magazine and handing it to her. "Here," he murmured. "This might help." It did get pretty boring pretty fast in here, and reading and drawing were really the only things that could help it, but it didn't really last for long.
Matt watched her for a second, smiling slightly before he looked back down at his magazine, skimming through it before he got bored. He sat back on the couch and began tugging on a loose thread on his shirt, chewing lightly on his lip.
Essence looked over at him and noticed him picking at a piece of thread and chewing his lip. Some habits she did herself. She shut the magazine as she laid it down near her.
Matt looked over and her and raised an eyebrow. "You done already?" he asked. Maybe she didn't like to read much. He wasn't into reading that much either, but he did like looking at pictures.
