Holly thought for a moment, "I will surprise you. It's no fun if i tell you." She said, laughing softly. She kissed his cheek and smiled.

Taven nodded, "We will just have to pay extra attention." He said as he watched her. He sighed as he ran his fingers through his hair.

Ares pouted a bit. "You know I hate being left in the dark," he said. "Are you gonna give me a hint?" He looked at her with pleading eyes.

Kenzie nodded. She gave him a small smile. "I know this is a mess," she said looking at him. "We have to try to figure this out."

Holly looked at him, "You will be spending it with me." She said, smiling. She took his hands and smiled. Holly liked that he was excited for his birthday.

Taven smiled, "It shouldn't be hard to find people that are doing weird things." He said, laughing softly.

"Well, I figured that," Ares said, giving her a look. "I want a better hint."

Kenzie nodded and agreed. "Yeah, it shouldn't be all that hard," she said and shut her mouth when her uncle stuck his head in the door. "I made lunch," he annonced.

Holly shook her head, "No it will ruin the surprise." She said as she laid back on his bed. She watched him for a moment and smiled.

Taven looked back at her uncle when he spoke, then he looked over at Kenzie. "You wanna eat" He asked. Taven smiled as he stood up with her.

Ares looked at her and knew that she wouldn't give in. He always asked for hints and never got a hint or a very clear hint. "What's so secretive about it?" he asked.

Kenzie smiled and nodded. "This is getting close to going in the oven, and I need to take a step back for a bit," she said.

Holly shrugged, "Because if i tell you then it will take all the fun out of it." She said. She looked up at the ceiling and sighed. "So what should we do now?" She asked.

Taven smiled, "Alright." He replied. He walked upstairs with her, looking at her uncle. Taven didn't know why but he felt slightly threatened by her Uncle. Maybe that was what he was going for though.

"You wanna go out and jump in the pond again?" Ares teased. "Or some horror movies?"

Kenzie looked at Taven. "He's just overprotective when it comes to me," she muttered in his ear. "He sees me as his daughter, not his niece." My uncle set out some plates and let us dig in.

Holly looked at him, "More horror movies is always the answer my friend." She said, laughing softly. Holly got up and picked out another movie. She put it in then climbed into teh bed with him.

Taven smiled at what she said then sat down next to her at the table. He waited for them to get their food before he got his. Taven took a bite of his food as he listened to her uncle speak to her.

Ares wrapped an arm around Holly as the movie started. He pulled her close into his side. He liked being around her like this.

Kenzie ate the food slowly as she talked to her uncle. "So when is my sister coming back from Africa?" he asked. "Or is she going to miss the flight and send a letter saying how she is sorry for not seeing her own daughter?"

"They are supposed to fly in on Monday, but I doubt they will come in. They have gotten promoted to the supervisors or something. They haven't been back in America for three months now," she replied.

Holly smiled as she relaxed against him. She bit her bottom lip lightly as she watched the movie.

Taven listened and felt kind of bad for Kenzie and the fact that her parents barely ever came to see her. It just didn't seem like a good life to be living in. He wished there was a way he could make her feel better because he knew that she was lonely.

Ares watched the movie. He kissed the side of her head and wondered how he even got the chance to meet her.

"Let me guess each of the letters say how great they are," Uncle Tyler said.

Kenzie shrugged her shoulders. "I don't ever read past 'we are sorry about'. The pile of letters collecting on the desk by the door. Honestly, I'm glad that I don't have them done my back all the time. I can never get a moment's rest when they are home," she said. "Besides, I had you to raise me who seemed to have done a great job."

Holly smiled when she felt him kiss the side of her head. She rested her head on his shoulder, then slowly laced her fingers with his. She knew it was going to take a little bit of time to get use to Ares as more than a friend.

Taven smiled when he heard Kenzie talking. When he finished eating he took a sip of his water. He looked over at Kenzie when he felt her looking at him. He looked at his watch to see what time it was.

Ares held Holly's hand and watched the movie. It would take awhile to be more than a friend to Holly. He didn't think it would happen over night. They knew each other for a long time as friends.

Kenzie finished the food. She helped her uncle clean it up. She looked over at Taven and asked, "Are you wanting to go and do something else or what?" She didn't want to force him to stay here.

Holly relaxed as the move played and closed her eyes as she relaxed with Ares. She slowly started to fall asleep on him. Holly held onto him as she slept.

Taven looked at her, "I just got to be home before seven." He said. He knew it was lame but he usually would hang out with his mom on thursday nights. Taven smiled at her, "We got plenty of time."HE assured her.

Ares noticed that Holly had went to sleep. He stayed up for a few more minutes before doing the same. He kept her close to him as he fell asleep.

Kenzie nodded. "I'm close to being done with that statue. Just a few more details, and it will be done. I just don't want to force you to stay here," she said looking at him.

Holly slept quietly until she heard her alarm the next morning. She slipped from Ares's arms, "Get up Ares." She said as she poked him. Holly went to her bag and started to get dressed. She smiled at him, "Happy birthday best friend." She teased as she plopped n the bed next to him.

Taven shook his head, "You aren't forcing me. I like spending time with you." He said as he watched her for a moment.

Ares groaned waking up. "Hey, could you find a better way to wake me up?" he asked, looking over at her sleepily.

Kenzie smiled at him. "I like spending time with you as well," she said. She smiled at him. She leaned over and kissed his cheek.

Holly thought for a moment, "Well that really wouldn't be fun." She said as she poked his cheek. She smiled as she watched him start to grin.

Taven smiled when he felt her lips against his cheek. Later that night he stood up when he knew it was time to leave. "Would you like me to walk you home?" He asked her as he pulled his jacket on.

Ares laughed and shook his head. "Yeah, you're not supposed to be mean to the birthday boy, and waking my up like you did was kind of rude," he teased. "Gonna tell me what we were going to do?"

Kenzie nodded. "Please," she said. She stood up and said bye to her uncle. She reached for Taven's elbow out of habit from walking next to him. They walked out of the house.
