Listen To Your Heart

  • [Sorry, they added season 2 of The Carrie Diaries on Netflix, and I've also been kind of stressing over midterms the last week or so...]

Eliza frowned. She should have known that the conversation would come to this. It was sort of inevitable really. Of course he'd want an explanation for her sudden disappearance from his life, it was completely understandable. That didn't meant that she hadn't hoped to avoid talking about it at all costs though. "I assumed you'd be pissed at me for not coming in the first place. And it's not like I answered any of your texts or returned any of your calls either. I just figured you wouldn't want to see me." She admitted. "And I know that it's a bullshit excuse, and I'm sorry. Really sorry actually..."
Dan didn't even have the chance to get a word in edge wise. He winced when he heard the bedroom door slam shut and sighed, running a hand over his face. He honestly had no idea what he was going to do about any of this. Things weren't supposed to pan out like this. This wasn't supposed to happen. Not now anyway. Not when he had to leave for tour in a couple of weeks and certainly not when he still had a career where he was gone a majority of each year. He knew that he should expect the unexpected, but this was more than just that. This was life changing, and he didn't know what he was going to do about it at all.

Leighton sat down on her bed and put her head in her hands and started to cry. It was one thing that this baby was certainly unplanned but it was now completely different because Dan didn't want it. She curled herself into a ball on the bed and stared at the wall. She knew one thing was for certain. She was keeping this baby whether Dan wanted it or not.

    ---

Josh listened as she spoke and tried to refrain himself from laughing, "You're right it is a bullshit excuse. But I know you El. I know it's true." He said and ran a hand through his hair. His plan had first been to throw every nasty thing he could say to her in her face...but the truth was Josh could never be like that to Ellie. Or to anyone really.

  • Eliza was honestly kind of surprised. She expected him to shout at her and call her every name in the book, but he wasn't. "So...you're not mad?" She asked slowly, wondering how she should take how he was acting. She didn't want to just start joking around like they used to. Not when she didn't know if he was mad at her or not.
Dan really just didn't know what to do. This wasn't how things were supposed to pan out. He and Leighton had never talked about having kids. They'd only been dating for six months, so that really wasn't something that had come up in conversation. And the fact that the tour seemed much closer now than it had before wasn't helping either. He was at a loss for words. Sighing, he decided that he needed to go out, clear his head for a bit. Plus, he highly doubted that his girlfriend wanted to talk to him right now anyway. Pulling on his jacket, he grabbed his keys before exiting the flat.

Leighton clenched her eyelids shut when she heard the door to the flat open and close. She called her best friend outside of the band, Jack. When All Time Low had gone on tour with You Me At Six, Leighton had gone with and had became close friends with Jack instantly. She loved how goofy and fun loving he was plus he was always there for her when she needed him. When he picked the phone up he was clearly surprised and happy to hear from her, "Leighton!!!" He practically screamed into the phone. She smiled through her tears and then burst out crying into the speaker before she told Jack everything that happened.

    ----

Josh shook his head then realized that she couldn't see him, "No I'm not. I want to be. But I'm not. You're my best friend, El. I can never stay mad at you. For whatever reason." He said and then took a breath before he ran a hand through his hair, preparing himself to ask the question he wasn't really sure he wanted to know the answer to, "So tell me about this bloke." He stated.

  • Eliza smiled slightly. She was kind of surprised, she expected him to be mad at her, but he wasn't, and he still considered her to be his best friend even though she'd pretty much ignored him for six years now. It made her feel like a total bitch. Josh had always been there for her, no matter what, and she'd pretty much just pushed him out of her life. "Good...that's good." She said quietly. "What do you want to know about him?"
Dan really didn't know where he was going or what he was doing. All he knew was that he needed to get out of there. He needed to clear his head so that he could begin to grasp this whole thing. It was a lot to take in, especially being as it was something that he and Leighton had never talked about. He didn't know what he was going to do, or how he was really dealing with this, but he was hoping that some time alone would help him wrap his head around all of this.

Leighton smiled at a joke that Jack made about her being pregnant, he was always able to make her laugh. "For real though, Leighton. Everything will work itself out. Whether Dan is meant to raise that baby with you or not, you are meant to raise this baby. And if you can't do it by yourself you have friends and family that will help you out. And if it comes down to it I will fly you out here and Alex and I will help you raise that baby." Jack said. Leighton smiled widely, "Jack you're the best you know that right?" "I do know that. And now that I've helped you with your problems I expect that baby to be named after me." Leighton laughed before she thanked Jack and hung up.

    ---

Josh rubbed his chin, "What's he like? How did you two meet? How did he propose?" What makes him better than me? He couldn't bring himself to ask the last one. If he made her happy that was something that she deserved and Josh couldn't do at the moment. He really hoped that bloke made her happy because if Josh couldn't have her than Ellie deserved the best in the world.

  • [Heyo, random question, do you have snapchat?]

For some reason, Eliza didn't really want to talk about Sam. She didn't know why, but that was the last thing she wanted to talk about with Josh right now. She didn't know what her reasoning behind it was though, and it honestly confused her a bit. "Well, his name's Sam for starters. He's really sweet, and smart, he's a doctor so he kind of has to be, but that's besides the point. And he makes me laugh. A lot. That and he's totally okay with my Marvel and Harry Potter obsession, let me drag him to Comic Con and everything, so there's that." She let out a quiet laugh, a small smile tugging at the corners of her lips. Sam really did make her happy. And she wasn't lying when she said what she did about him. She did love him though, deep down, she knew that she loved someone else too. She quickly pushed those thoughts away though. She was getting married in a few months time. She needed to stop thinking about that. "We met in college actually. First week of my Freshman year. I got lost on campus, you know my navigation skills have always been terrible, and he kind of picked up on that and helped me find my way back to my dorm. I wanted to make it up to him, and he told me that the only way I could was if I let him take me out for coffee sometime, and the rest is sort of history, I guess." She shrugged her shoulders despite knowing that Josh couldn't actually see her doing so.
Dan didn't really know how long he was gone. He sort of just drove around the city for a while until he'd gathered his thoughts together into something that was actually somewhat coherent. He was still sort of at a loss, gathering his thoughts didn't make any of this any less unexpected, but he'd had some time to think about it all. He knew he'd need more time to fully grasp this whole situation, but at least he was able to wrap his head around the fact now. He figured he should head back to the flat and talk to Leighton. He felt bad for getting into that argument with her, and he felt like a shit person for making her cry. He hated seeing her cry, and it made him feel even shittier knowing that it was his fault she'd been crying in the first place. So, he stopped and got her some of her favorite flowers, and a few of her other favorite things, like her favorite movie and her favorite candy, before heading back to the flat. He was hoping that she'd at least hear him out.

    (I do)

Leighton got out of bed and put on one of Dan's sweatshirt and walked out into the kitchen and made herself some tea. She looked up when she heard the flat door open and close. She knew it was Dan and she didn't know if she should go to him. She was beyond happy He had came back though. Leighton finished making her tea before she walked out to the living room to see Dan with her favorite flowers, lilies and her favorite movie 21 Jump Street and her favorite candy, Kit Kats. She smiled wide at him, "You didn't have to." She stated

    ---

Josh listened as she talked, "He sounds like a great bloke." He said almost sadly. He kind of hoped that he was terrible so he could swoop in for her but then again he was glad he was a good guy. She deserved it. "A doctor? Well that's a change from the people you're friends with. From rockstars to doctors. That's quite a difference, El." he teased with a laugh.
    November 5th, 2014 at 03:06am
  • Eliza smiled. "So, he's got the Franceschi stamp of approval then?" She asked, her tone light and teasing. She didn't even pick up on the fact that his tone almost sounded sad. If she did, she probably would have just passed it off as something else anyway. She let out a quiet laugh in response to his later words. "Well, I've never exactly been someone who hangs out with a specific group of people." She pointed out. She got on well with all kinds of different people. It was just the type of person that she was.
Dan shook his head. "Yes I did." He said. And she wasn't going to change his mind either. He needed to make this up to her and apologize for upsetting her earlier. This was how he planned on doing it. "I was a twat, and I figured I'd at least attempt to make it up to you." He smiled slightly. "I hate seeing you cry, and I was the reason for those tears today. Made me feel like a total wanker, that's for sure. I'm sorry, love. I truly am."

    (Do you have one?)

Leighton smiled at Dan's words before she leaned up and kissed his cheek, "You are forgiven." She said with another grin before she set her tea down on the table and took the flowers out of his hand before she put them in a vase and water then set them on the kitchen table. She returned to Dan and pulled him close for a kiss. She didn't want to talk about the thing on her mind and in her stomach. She just wanted to spend this moment with Dan and not ruin the rest of it. She pulled back and smiled, "So why don't we pop in that movie and sit on the couch and just cuddle for the night."

    ---

Josh laughed at her words, "I have to meet him first in order for him to get the stamp of approval." He said before he nodded at her answer to his teasing, "That is true. But you prefer us rockstars it's okay to admit it. I won't tell Sam." Josh joked before he leaned back on his couch and put his feet up on the coffee table then looked around at the pictures of he and Ellie he kept in his apartment.

  • (Yeah, I do)
Eliza let out a quiet laugh. "Alright, I guess that's understandable." She said. Part of her wanted to ask when he'd be back on her side of the Atlantic again, but she didn't know if she should or not. She wanted to see him again, and she wanted to see him before the wedding, but she was hesitant in asking if he'd be in America on tour any time soon. She didn't know why, they'd already established the fact that he wasn't mad at her, but she was still kind of hesitant nonetheless. "Alright, maybe I do. But if you do tell him, don't think I won't come find you, Franceschi." She said sternly, a quiet laugh escaping her lips soon after.
Dan was pretty relieved when she said that she'd forgiven him. That was the first thing he wanted to have established before anything else. He hated the thought of her being upset with him, and sure they'd had their fair share of arguments as a couple, but that didn't make it all any easier for him. When she returned a few moments later and pulled him in for a kiss, he instantly reciprocated, kissing her back. He smiled down at her. "I think that sounds like a great idea."

(What is it I'll friend you)

Leighton smiled and put the DVD in the player before she pressed play and sat on the couch with Dan and cuddled into his side, "Thank you babe. This means a lot." She said with a smile before she focused on the movie. She hadn't seen it in a while and She was glad Dan remembered she mentioned it was her favorite movie.

    ---

Josh laughed at her words, "Well anything to get you out here." He joked. He scratched his chin before he spoke again, "I'm actually coming out there soon. We've got a tour in American for about a month and a half. We have a few shows near you actually."

"Hey!" Eliza said, letting out a quiet laugh. She knew he was only joking, and she was glad that he was. It was sort of strange that they could pretty much just pick up right where they'd left off, but it was nice too. She'd really missed him a lot over the years. Part of her kind of really wished she'd answered or returned one of his calls ages ago. She couldn't help smiling when he said he'd be in America on tour for a month and a half. And then he said there were a few shows near where she was and everything just got a thousand times about. "Yeah? Well, it's a shame that I don't have a ticket...what ever will I do?" She knew that he could get her one easily, hell he'd let her backstage, she just liked being overdramatic sometimes.
Dan wrapped an arm around her shoulders, pulling her closer to him. He looked down to her and smiled. "No need to thank me, love." He said, pressing a soft kiss to the top of her head. He was glad that she hadn't brought up anything just yet. He just wanted to enjoy a nice, relaxing night in with his girlfriend. They had plenty of time to worry about that later on. Or so he told himself anyway.

Leighton smiled at Dan's words before she laid her head on his shoulder and watched the movie. She laid her hand on her stomach and bit her lip lightly. She laughed at a scene on the movie. She forgot how funny it was. She was really happy that her and Dan had made up for the time being and they were able to just be cuddly with each other though hours ago they were screaming at each other.

    ---

Josh laughed at her words, "Well if only you happened to know someone int He band. They would be able to get you a ticket and backstage if you really wanted it. That would really be helpful." He teased before he shifted on his couch and laid down, "I'm positive I can get you a ticket and backstage pass for each show around you."

  • Eliza let out a quiet laugh. "If only." She said, a slight grin tugging at the corners of her lips. She was honestly pretty relieved that they'd sort of just picked up right where they'd left off. Though she'd expected Josh to be mad at her, she was kind of glad that he wasn't. She'd missed him a lot over the years, and she was really realizing that right now. "For every show by me? Are you sure you want me at that many shows?" She joked. She glanced over to the clock across the room, eyes widening slightly when she saw the time. She was supposed to be meeting Sam's mom, well, five minutes ago. She swore loudly. "I hate to cut this short, but I was supposed to be somewhere five minutes ago..."
Dan pressed a soft kiss to the top of her head before focusing his attention on the movie. He found himself looking over to Leighton whenever she'd laugh. He loved hearing her laugh, and he was glad that they'd made up. He was glad that she'd forgiven him after he'd been a complete wanker, but he knew that they'd have to talk about all of this eventually. It didn't have to be tonight though. It could wait.

Leighton felt her eye lids slowly drift shut because she was so comfortable with Dan at that moment and she was also extremely tired from fighting with Dan. She was okay with falling asleep but she didn't necessarily want to. She wanted to savor this moment forever with Dan. She didn't want it to end. But eventually sleep took over and she felt herself drift unconscious.

    ----

Josh smiled at her words, "It's not really that big of a deal. It's only like three shows." He said with a grin before he frowned at her later words and nodded, "I understand. Wedding planning and stuff." He said with a small fake laugh before he spoke again, "I'll call you tomorrow, yeah?" He suggested. He wanted to be able to talk to her more and catch up before he went out there and it was just like boom he was there in front of her.
    November 5th, 2014 at 10:36pm
  • Eliza smiled. "Alright, but I'll remind you of that when you remember how much of a pain in the ass I can be." She said, letting out a quiet laugh. "It has to get done." She shrugged her shoulders despite knowing that he couldn't actually see her doing so. "And I promise I'll answer." Now that she'd let him back into her life, she wasn't going to screw things up again.
When the laughter stopped, Dan glanced down, seeing that she'd fallen asleep. A small smile appeared on his face. He grabbed the remote, shutting off the TV before standing, careful not to wake Leighton. He picked her up, careful not to jostle her or anything like that, and carried her down the hall to their bedroom. He set her down on their bed, pulling the sheets and blankets up over her before pressing a soft kiss to her forehead.

Leighton could feel herself being picked up but didn't wake up at all. She simply nestled into the blankets when they were pulled over her and continued to sleep. She dreamed of her and Dan and the baby. It made her happy but also made her sad. She turned over and got comfortable as she slept.

    ---

Josh smiled at her words, "Good. If you don't answer I'm going to spam call you." He joked before he spoke once more, "See ya, Ellie." He said before hanging up. He was smiling wider than he probably ever had before. He didn't know why considering she was still getting married but he would worry about that later. For now he was just glad to have his best friend back.
    November 5th, 2014 at 11:05pm
  • Eliza let out a quiet laugh. "See ya, Josh." She hung up moments later. She couldn't help the smile that tugged at the corners of her lips. She was happy. Maybe she should have gotten in contact with Josh sooner, or at least returned or answered one of his calls. And, even though she really didn't want to go spend the rest of the afternoon with her soon to be mother-in-law, she would do it because it meant getting to tomorrow and getting to talk to her best friend again.
Dan climbed into bed next to Leighton. He hoped that they would be able to sort everything out soon. He hated knowing that they hadn't actually resolved what had caused their argument earlier. He knew that they'd have to talk about it soon enough, but at least they'd had a nice, relaxing night in, and at least he knew that she'd forgiven him for the time being.
