Dark Shadows

"Was he here?" he asked seriously as he pulled out his cellphone and called the cops letting them know what had happened.

"Right, selfish - how could I forget," she whispered as she looked at him, "God forbid you be lonely, when I've been reaching for help for the longest time now,"

"No," She whispered. "He came to rehearsal. He said he was coming back to get me." She said quietly, looking at him. "I dont want to go back, he said I got fat. I'm really scared."

He stared at her. "When I needed you, you didn't want me. When you needed me I want space, we were both wrong but this isn't the way to fix it." He said seriously

"Then what is?" she whispered, "I feel useless, other than being a cow for Amara....there is nothing else I'm useful for." she told him as she licked over her lips, "No one wants me, so why should I bother,"

"You're not going anywhere with him, he already broke parole by seeing you, come on - lets go home," he said to her lightly, "Tomorrow we're going to bring you back to speed and we're going to the shooting range, okay?"

"We're going shooting again? You're not going to shoot him, are you?" She asked softly. "I dont want you in trouble for him or me."

"So what then, Amara loses her mother. Who will she look up to for a female figure?" He asked her

"I'm sure the woman you had been seeing would make a great mother, something I'm obviously not cut out to be." she said to him, "Why do you care so much, you haven't cared until now,"

"We're going shooting, you're going to learn how to use a gun," he said to her seriously, "and I'm going to take a leave of absence from work so I can be with you more until this is handled properly."

"He said I'm fat again," She murmured, looking at Jongdae. "And that I better not have been expecting another guy, I don't want him to get angry and I don't want you to fight him." She said quickly, her voice speeding up in nervousness.

"How many times do I have to tell you, I have never cheated on you! How can I? I couldn't bring myself to leave because you're the only woman Ive ever loved but you cause me such agony. But I love you so much I can't leave you-- I just cant!" He said furiously.

She stared at him, "How can I know that... how could I possibly know that when the only think you do is drown yourself in work and the baby, I get told I'm being dramatic when you know I was having problems because I gave birth - you acted like my worries and struggles were trivial, "

"You're not fat, you're healthy - he is a moron, I will have him killed before I let him hurt you," he said to her softly.

She stared at her hands and sighed, not knowing what to do or say. "Don't get hurt because of me."

"How can I know what you were feeling when you shut me out too. When I wanted to be there, you wouldn't let me. So by doing the same I become the bad guy?" He asked her.

She stared at him and shook her head then rolled over not looking at him, "I wish I had succeeded, then I wouldn't have to deal with verbal berating I seem to get from everyone - nothing I do makes anyone happy, so why fucking bother," she whispered, "I'll just fail her too, I can never do anything right,"

"I won't, but lets go home, okay?" he said to her lightly.

"If no one cares, why am I here? Why did I run to the motel knowing I may have been late and carried you into the hospital? If no one cares why did I do that?" He asked her.

She nodded and wrapped her arms around him, standing so they could leave and go home. "I love you. I actually love you. Your love, not his. I just want him to leave."

"I've always ever only wanted you," she said softly, "It's all I've ever wanted,"

He held onto her,"I love you too," he said to her gently, "We'll get through this - even if we have to relocate to another city, we'll make it work,"

"We both were wrong, but we both need to be there for Amara. She's at the neighbors, I just ran over." He murmured to her.

"Your business is here, I don't want you to lose your business because of me." She said to him.

"I won't, and you can't stop me from taking time off, I love you and that means I get to protect you too," he said to her.

"I don't want to be a burden," she whispered softly.

She sighed a little and nodded. "I know," she said softly. "I just don't want you to suffer because of me."

"This isnt the way to do it." He said softly. "And you're not a burden."

She looked at him, "Do you love me?" she asked softly as she looked at him.

He looked at her,"I would never suffer because of you, I love you and I really mean it,"

She nodded a little and kissed his hand. "I love you too. I just need to keep reminding myself that. I love you, you love me, you're here, and you don't think I'm ugly, fat, or useless. And thats all that matters."

"I love you. I did a bad job of showing it, but I do." He said to her. "You need to get better. We need to make it work."

She nodded, "I'll try," she whispered sotly as she looked at him and laid her head back on the back as she closed her eyes. "I'm tired," she whispered.

He smiled a little and nodded,"It's going to be okay, you're going to be okay,"

She nodded a little and smiled weakly, forcing herself to smile despite the clear fear she felt.

He nodded. "Go to sleep, I'll send in a doctor." He murmured, going to find one in the hallway.

She sighed and closed her eye rolling onto her side so she could sleep. Why she had survived was beyond her, btu she did want to see Amara soon - if he'd let her.

He put his arm around her and led her out of the building and to his car.

He told the doctor she was awake and sank into a chair in the hall, putting his face in his hands and exhaling. It was going to be very interesting how this worked out.

She got into the car and sighed, crossing her hands over her chest, and closing her eyes. She was terrified, and she didn't exactly know what to do.
