Small Town Throwdown

Roxie woke up the next morning and groaned when she felt the splitting headache she had. She rolled her eyes when her father yelled for her to get ready for one of the church functions they were having. She got up and got dressed. Roxie walked into the church and saw all the happy people. She just wanted to go home and sleep. Her father had lectured her on the way home and it only made her want Tanner more.

Luke smiled, "Sound good, but i'm getting a burger and fries." He said, laughing softly. He ordered himself his food then watched as she ordered. "So when will your sisters be home?" He asked as he took a sip of his drink. Luke knew they would be the first ones to find out.

Tanner sighed softly as he stood in the garage of the mechanic shop. He was practically covered in oil and grease as he worked on a old truck for one of the town's elder people. Mr. Jones walked in, seeing Tanner working diligently on the truck. "How's it coming along, boy?" The older man asked. Tanner looked at him and smiled. "It's coming along, Mr. Jones.." He said as he worked. He normally would have the truck finished but today Tanner seemed a little distracted, like his mind was on something, rather than someone else. He heard the song 'Hey Pretty Girl' by Kip Moore come in, which made him smile a little. This song made him think of Roxie.

Katie was staring off into space for a moment when she heard Luke ask her when her sisters were coming back. "Well I was talking to Tiffany earlier today and she said that they would be coming home in about a week. Grace is wanting to stay longer, but I told Tiffany that when she came home, Grace needed to come home." She then took a sip of her water. "I'll be telling them when they get home." She said. She then thought about something before looking at Luke. "Luke, not to change the subject, but I've been wanting to bring this up." She said. "Since I'm getting further along, I was wondering if you would like to move-in to the house. I think it's so important that a man is in the household for protection and safety. I mean, that's only if you would like to. I know you have your own private place on the ranch away from the house, which you can still keep. It's just...I need you....um...we...WE need you." She said, quickly correcting herself.

Roxie was relieved when they were finally done with the church fundraiser. She went down to one of the old stores with her friend and got a soda. Roxie bit her bottom lip lightly then walked out of the store. She walked down the street til she saw Tanner's truck outside of the shop he worked at. She walked into the shop when the older man told her were Tanner was. She smiled when he looked up, "Hey." She said. "I just came to apologize for my dad last night." She said.

Luke looked at her thinking about what she was purposing, "Well i'd be honored to move into the house with you Ms. Kate." He said. He smiled as he took a sip of his water, "Though that would get a lot of people talking when this all comes out." He informed her. He wanted to know all about the things that could go bad with all of this. He smiled when their food came and he put ketchup on his burger.

Tanner continued working then looked up when he heard footsteps approaching him. He looked up and smiled seeing Roxie. "Hey." He grinned. He then shook his head when she apologized. "Nah, it's all fine." He grinned. "I really enjoyed last night with you. I hope you enjoyed as well." He said as he grabbed the rag from his pocket. He wiped off his hands from the grease.

Katie knew what she was saying and knew that people were going to talk, but she didn't care. "I know, I know." She said softly. "But I don't care. I can more on safety and protection then people's gossip." She smiled when the food came. "Oh, this looks so good!" She smirked as she poured the raspberry dressing on her salad. She then said grace with Luke before starting to eat.

Roxie nodded, "I did like it." She said softly. She watched him for a moment, "Perhaps we could do it again." She suggested. Sure it wasn't normal for girls around here to ask guys out, but she wasn't into the whole waiting thing. "If you want to that is." she added.

Luke smiled, "Then i will move in sometimes this week." He said as he took a bite of his sandwich. He was so glad that he was going to get to move in with her. He liked being around her family, he always had. He ate a few of his fries as people conversed around them.

Tanner smirked. He was really happy to hear her say that she wanted to hang out with him again. "Great. We can do something later tonight if you would like." He said as he moved a little closer to her. "I'm just about to get off work, if you'd like to go grab a bite to eat." He said with a charming smile. "That's totally up to you." He looked at her with that charming twinkle in his eyes. He was most definitely flirting with her.

Katie smiled. "Wonderful!" She cheered. She was really excited about this. "Oh, thank you Luke." She said. She went on with eating her salad, eating every bite till it was gone. When she finished, she drank the last of her water, then sat back. As she sat there, Katie felt their waitress watching her. She looked at Luke and played with a strand of her hair. She looked down at her belly, feeling huge.

Roxie smiled at him, "Sure we can go get something to eat." She said. She waited for him to get off work and once he was done she went with him to his truck. She walked into the restaurant then sat down. "So what did you have in mind for tonight?" She asked as the girl handed them their menus.

Luke finished his food then paid for the bill. "Alright let's get out of here." He said. He slid out of the booth then walked to his truck, opening the door for her. Luke smirked as he started to drive to her house. He looked over at her, "I will see you in the morning Katie." He said.

Tanner sat down and kindly thanked the waitress for the menu. He then looked back at Roxie. "I don't know." He said softly. "Whatever you would like to do." He grinned. "We did what I liked last night, so it would only be fair that we do what you'd like to do now." He smiled and winked at her. He looked down at the menu, quickly deciding on what to get to eat. He figured while she thought about what they could do tonight, he would decide on what to have for eat.

Katie nodded. "I'll see you in the morning Luke. Thank you for a nice evening. It's so great to have some company." She smiled and moved a little to him. "Sleep well tonight." She kissed his cheek then hugged him. This was nothing new because she did this from time to time - kiss his cheek and hug him. She then stepped back, biting that bottom lip of hers again.

Roxie thought of something and looked at him, "I have an idea." She said as she looked back at her menu. "I have to go to my house and change first though." She added. She looked over the menu then decided on what to eat. Roxie ran her fingers through her hair.

Luke smiled, "Goodnight miss Kate." He said. He watched as she went inside then went back into his house. He drove to her house in the morning and began to get his tools out of his truck for work. He greeted the workers with a smile and then looked up at the ranch house.

[I hope you're okay with me having Luke treat her as a friend for awhile. I was thinking he could realize how much he really likes her later one :)]

Tanner nodded. "Alright, well lets eat and then I can take you to your house." He looked back over at the menu once again, finally deciding what he wanted. When the waitress came back to them, he looked at her and quickly ordered. "I'll have the country fried steak meal with mashed potatoes and green beans." He then looked at Roxie. It was her turn to order.

Katie got up the next morning and took a shower. When she finished with her shower, she put on a nice casual dress with boots. Today she was wearing her glasses instead of her contacts and her hair was in a nice side braid. She finished getting ready - teeth brushed, make up, etc. - then walked outside. She said good morning to all the workers then walked over to Luke. "Good Morning Mr. Luke." She said.

[Oh, i'm completely fine with that. That's what I'm going for. I'm just putting in little moments where she does something that she either never would do or rarely does.]

Roxie looked at the waitress, "Can i have the BLT please?" She said to the waitress. She handed the lady her menu then looked back at him. Tanner didn't seem like the guy who wanted to sit around and make small talk. He seemed exciting and she hoped she could keep up with him.

Luke smiled, "Mornin' Kate." He said as he threw a bag over his shoulder. "Gonna be a hot day today." He said, laughing softly. "Let's get to work boys." He said. He gave Katie a tip of his hat then walked off with the boy. Sure he was older but he was in just as good shape as them.

Once Roxie ordered and the girl walked away to put in their food orders, Tanner looked at her. He didn't really know what to say. He was really never one for small talk, and he felt like Roxie already knew that about him. "So..." He said as he sat there. "What did you have in mind?" He asked. "Or are you going to make me wait?" He grinned.

Katie nodded. "Well you boys try not to work to hard." She smiled. "Oh, and Luke make sure Riley finishes painting the front fences out by the gate. I know you all are busy, but that needs to get done." She then looked at one of the other works named Tommy. "And Tommy I think I've asked you a couple to fix the fence around the garden....just PLEASE don't forget." She nodded once at the man as he said yes ma'am. She looked at Luke. "Do you need me to get you anything or do anything for you?' She asked.

Roxie smiled, "i was thinking we could go fishing at this place i know." She said softly. "If you are up for that." She said. She figured he liked to fish though because everyone around this part were sportsman. Roxie took a sip of her water then looked at him.

Lue shook his head, "No ms. Kate you just relax for the day. I got everything under control." He said with a smile. Luke fixed his had then walked to the field with them. Luke walked back to the house around noon for lunch. He smiled at everyone as he sat on the back of his truck.

Tanner smiled at the idea. "Fishing...sounds like a perfect idea." He said as he sat there. He looked at her and smiled. "To be honest, I didn't think you were into fishing." He grinned. He knew that if he wanted things to work in anyway, he would need to show her is good side. When they got their food, Tanner started eating.

At lunch time, Katie walked out with a pitcher of her Sweet Tea and Sandwiches for everyone. She smiled at the guys as they made noise - whistled, clapped, etc. - They always loved when she would do things like this. Katie knew what everyone liked and how they liked it. She handed Luke his sandwich last. "Enjoy!" She smiled.

Roxie nodded, "Yea i am. My dad and me go all the time.' She said. She was glad when their food came. When they were done eating she walked to his truck with him. Roxie walked inside with Tanner, seeing her father wasn't home. "I will be right back." She said as she walked upstairs. She got dressed then walked downstairs. Her shorts showed off her ass in one of the best ways and probably something nobody thought she would wear. "Let's go get the stuff." She said. She walked outside with him to the back shed and started handing him stuff.

Luke smiled, "thanks Katie." He said. He took a bite of his sandwich then took a sip of his sweet tea. She made the best sweet tea in the area he thought. Luke grinned then looked over at all his workers. They seemed to all be in a good mood today.

Tanner waited for Roxie to return after changing. When she came back, his mouth practically dropped as he looked at her. "Wow." He grinned. "You look...wow." He laughed. He followed her to the shed to get the fishing gear, his eyes never leaving her butt. He just smirked as he watched her walk. "This is going to be so much fun." He said aloud without thinking

Katie nodded. "You're welcome, Luke." she then nodded to the other boys before walking back inside. As she waited back inside, she put a hand on her stomach gently caressing her swollen stomach. Tommy watched Katie then looked at Luke, raising an eyebrow. "Is Miss Brooks okay?" He asked, referring to her hand on her stomach. When Katie got inside, she began cleaning house, even though the house was already spotless.

Roxie looked at him, "Yea it will." she said. She helped him put the things in his truck then slid into his truck. "Okay so go up the road and turn left onto that dirt road." she said. She smiled when they finally got to the spot by the river she wanted then got out and got their things. Roxie walked with him to the river bank then helped him set up from of the stuff. She baited her hook and cast it into the river. She looked over at him and smiled.

Luke nodded, "Yes she's fine. Afraid she is just missing her sisters is all." He said. He figured that would be a good enough cover. He smiled as he fixed his hat. "I'm sure she will be fine once they return home." He said as he ate hsi sandwich.

Tanner smiled at her, saying nothing. He then baited his hook before casting it into the river. He wasn't going to lie, this was kind of nice. However, the only person that he would want to do this with is the person he was sitting with at the moment. They sat there in silence as they fished. After a while, Tanner looked over at her. He put down his pole and moved her closer to him. Without any hesitation, he leaned in and kissed her lips, taking the fishing pole from her in the process. He wrapped an arm around her waist, keeping her to him.

Later that night...Katie was in the kitchen finishing up dinner. She had made a pasta dish. Along with that, she made up a nice garden salad as well as garlic bread. She had the small table in the kitchen set since it was just her and Luke. She knew she didn't need to call out to Luke, because he would always come at the same time for dinner. While she finished up, her sister Tiffany called to tell her that they were coming home the day after tomorrow; which made Katie pretty excited. Once everything was on the table, she waited for him.

Roxie smiled as he kissed her then kissed him back. She pulled away after a bit, knowing the thoughts that were probably swimming through his mind. She didn't want to get his hopes up because she wasn't going to have sex with him. Roxie bit her bottom lip lightly as she looked at him.

Luke walked into the kitchen, "Looks good Katie." He said as he looked around. He sat down, taking his hat off. He looked at her, seeing that she seemed happy, "Something interesting happen?" he asked as he took a sip of his water.

Tanner slowly pulled back when she pulled back. He just smirked a little. "It's okay, Roxie." He said softly. "I'm not going to force you to do anything." He put a hand on her cheek and smiled. "See, I'm not all that bad." He laughed lightly. He kissed her lips once more, then slowly pulled back again.

Katie looked at Luke and smiled. "Tiffany called. They're coming home the day after tomorrow." She was kind of happy about it, but she was a little worried since she had to tell them about her pregnancy. She then walked over to the table, putting the different salad dressings on the table as well a couple of other items.
