Parker walked out of school, smiling to himself. He had a new video game waiting for him at home, no other responsibilities, and the house all to himself for the night. As he started to reach the parking lot, he saw Amelie Taylor. Parker didn't know her all too well, but they had a one night stand a while ago, after a party. It was fun, and she seemed sweet, but he didn't get involved. Too much responsibility and commitment for him. Not that Parker never wanted to settle down; he was still in high school, and wasn't quite sure what he wanted yet. As he walked past, Parker gave her a small smile. "Hey, Amelie."

Amelie placed her hands together, feeling the worry rise inside of her. She squeezed her hands gently, feeling a rush of cold air breeze past her. She released her grip on her hands, holding her jacket together to keep warm. Her zipper had broke a couple weeks before. She heard a voice speak her name, which gave her a slight shock. She jumped, turning to face the guy. It was Parker Welsh. Memories came flooding back to her of the night they shared together. She gave him a fake smile, "Hi there, Parker." she said, moving her hair out of her face.

Parker thought about moving past her, just getting home. But he couldn't - or didn't really want to. "How, um... How have you been?" Parker asked, trying to keep smiling. He'd never felt so awkward around a girl before. Amelie might just not want to talk? Whatever it was, it was disappointing to Parker. She was sweet, and fun, and he wasn't sure why she wanted to sleep with him in the first place. Probably just the alcohol.

Amelie moved her hair behind her ear, crossing her arms over her chest shortly after. How have you been? There were so many ways she could answer this. She was scared, nervous, tired, and plenty more, but she figured lying would be the best case in this situation. "I've been fine." she lied, a blush spreading across her cheeks as the memories once again made their way into her head. "How about yourself?" she asked, feeling the awkwardness come out in her voice. She shivered as another gust of wind made it's way across her skin.

"I'm fine, I've been fine." Parker could see how uncomfortable she was and started to walk away. "It was nice talking to you again. Hope you have a good afternoon!" With that, he turned and walked towards his car. Never trying that again, he thought, opening the driver door and throwing his backpack onto the passenger seat. Parker turned to give Amelie another smile, then got into the car.

He was being so nice to her, she could help but give a small smile. He started to leave after saying goodbye. "Wait, Parker!" Amelie felt herself say, not meaning to actually let it out. She walked up to the car, hoping that he would say yes to what she was about to ask. "Um, I know this is kind of weird, but would you like to maybe go out for coffee sometime, or something?" she asked. She wanted to talk to him alone, and that was the only way to do so.

Parker smiled. "Yeah. Yeah, sure. Do you want to go somewhere now? Unless you have somewhere to be, I mean." He moved his backpack to the back seat, in case she said yes. He was glad to hang out with her again. Amelie was different from the other hook ups, and he couldn't quite figure out why. Maybe because she didn't try to hang around him afterwards.

Amelie smiled a little, but it wasn't entirely real, "Right now is fine. Sorry it was such short notice, by the way." she apologized. She thought about the conversation she planned to have. How would she tell him? It took her a second to realize that she wasn't supposed to drink coffee. She couldn't without it affecting the baby that was growing inside of her. She bit her lip, deciding not to say anything, knowing that Parker would most likely ask questions.

"No, no, that's fine. Just hop on in," Parker said with a smile. He started the car as she got in, the engine coughing to life. "Sorry, my car isn't the best. One day I'll actually get a good one. Or, at least one that doesn't sound like it's dying." He joked, chuckling. "You can, uh, put something on the radio if you'd like. I don't listen to it much." Really, he just wanted something to break the silence. Parker wasn't sure what to say to Amelie.

Amelie gave Parker a shy smile, "I'm fine. I'm not much of a music person, honestly." she said, buckling herself in to the seat. "There is a coffee shop down the street. It's not the best, but it's the one closest to here. It will save you on gas." she said, pointing in the direction of the coffee shop. She truly didn't mind the coffee there, but most people didn't have a taste for it. They also served other refreshments, unlike other coffee shops.

"Okay, nice." Parker drove out of the parking lot and soon found the coffee shop Amelie had suggested. After parking the car outside, he led Amelie inside. "Do you want me to buy for you?" he asked, taking out his wallet. "What do you want to get?"

“Oh. No, you don’t have to buy anything for me. I can do it.” Amelie said as they approached the counter. “I’m fine with just a water.” she said, knowing how crazy she sounded. She looked around the coffee shop, noticing that it looked just as she remembered. The same booths and tables were in the same spots they were when she previously visited.

"Water? Okay." Parker did see it as slightly strange that she suggested the coffee shop without wanting any coffee, but he wouldn't question it out loud. He was happy to even be talking to her about it. After they got their drinks and sat down in a booth, Parker smiled. "So... You've been good lately? Are you with any guy that I should be jealous of?" He joked.

Just as Parker was asking this, Amelie was in the middle of taking a drink. She choked on her water, coughing a little bit afterwards. She was honestly surprised he had asked this. She didn’t know how to respond to what he said, she questioned, “What?” She felt a blush flush to her cheeks. Was he being serious, or was he joking? She didn’t know for sure. There was a part of her that kind of hoped he hadn’t been joking.

"I'm gonna hope that that's a no." Parker smiled, taking a sip of his coffee. Amelie was cute, but especially when she blushed. "Are you okay?" The smile was still on his face, but his tone was more sincere. He wasn't sure why she seemed so distant, even now. He wanted to know whether or not she was happy, because part of him cared about her, whether he liked to admit it or not.

Amelie looked at him, "I'm fine. And that is a definite no." she answered, taking another sip of water to stop the coughing. It worked, thankfully. She had asked him here for a reason, and that reason was to tell him about the baby, but she was terrified to do so. She breathed in, letting out a heavy sigh. She didn't know how, or when to say it. If she didn't say something soon, she knew he would start questioning, but she could seem to find the right thing to say.

"Are you sure you're okay? You just seem distracted. Have I done something wrong, or..?" Parker took another sip of his coffee, thinking. "Is it about the night we hooked up? I know I didn't stick around, and part of me regrets that, but..." Parker stopped talking, chuckling quietly. "Sorry, I should let you talk."

Amelie was surprised to hear that he had regretted leaving. She looked up, a surprised look spreading across her face. "You regret leaving?" she asked, not even meaning for it to come out. She closed her mouth, immediately regretting asking him. She looked down, twirling her hair between her fingers, like she always did when she was nervous. She could feel her nerves twisting in her stomach.

"Well... Now I do. Whenever I hooked up with other girls, I would always leave afterwards, and we would get along just fine. But we haven't talked until now. I feel like that's my fault." Parker tried his best to explain, trying not to ramble like before.
