Imprintee

I walked into my third class which, thankfully, was my class before lunch, and then I was free to go. I just had to finish today and I could go to take that much wanted nap that I'd been wanting since 8am. I sat down, but was forced to stand back up as our teacher had decided to assign a seating chart, two to a table.

Great. Even greater if I got stuck next to someone I wouldn't like. I heard my name be called Jourdan Mali and a name that made my eyes roll so hard, I was sure the teacher could hear it. Paul Lahote . Great. Even greater.

I went over to the table which was in the back and on the side and put my things down, keeping my eyes forward. I didn't need to get him talking.

Quinn sighed as she finished setting up her bedroom, it was fairly simple and quite small. She had a twin bed off to the side of the room, a night stand placed next to it with books and lamp placed on there just so or else her mom would have a fit. She had her computer desk against the opposite wall between her bedroom and closet door. She had a book shelf on the only other open wall, and in her closet everything was organized just so - or she'd never be able to find what she was looking for.

She picked up her camera, she plugged it into her computer taking the pictures from it and placing them onto her computer so she could go out to take pictures again. She had went around town the day before, and she had enjoyed it more than she had thought she would.

She pulled on her beanie, and jacket then grabbed her scarf and gloves. "Mom, I'm going out again!" she said as she walked down the stairs with her backpack slung over one shoulder her camera and its case inside the backpack.

"I'm going to the beach," she said to her.

"Alright, well be careful," Her mother, Karen, spoke seriously.

"Will do," she said as she grabbed her car keys then walked to her car, the drive was silent. She didn't know the area so she didn't feel comfortable enough to listen to music as she drove just yet.

Paul sighed a little as he was seated next to the new girl he'd never seen before, he sat back in his chair pushing a hand through his hair. He hated this class, it was the most boring in his opinion.

I took out my notes, focusing on the assignment that we were given: a group project to be done with the other person at your table. I turned to him and sighed, chewing on my lip slightly. I didn't like group projects, and he seemed like the type to slow me down.

"What do you want to do the project on?" I asked politely, only asking to be polite. If I disagreed with his choice, I'd reject it regardless.

I pointed to the list of topics and circled a few that I would be more comfortable doing. "I like these."

He looked at her then at the sheet,"that one is fine," he said pointing to one she'd pointed at. He didn't really have a preference to be honest, he just wanted to get the assignment done.

Quinn pulled into the parking lot and walked onto the beach she pulled her camera out of her bag and then turned it on, she fixed her beanie before starting to take pictures of the scenery. There was so much to capture on film - she didn't know how she'd be able to get it all.

I looked at him for a second and quickly realized that I would be doing this assignment on my own if I didn't push him. "I'll make it easy, you gather the research and I'll put it together. That way you just have to find the specifics and that's it. Alright?" I said, turning back to my books.

Sam sat on the beach, his head in his hands. He was exhausted. He finally was able to escape the elders and get time to himself. He was stressed and he needed a break, and this was the only place he could think of to get one.

He nodded,"I can do that, I'm not that guy who usually ditches." he told her seriously.

She set her camera up on the rock and took a few pictures - she didn't want to get dirty so she wasnt going to lay on the ground like she usually would to get the right shot.

I nodded. "Alright, well fine. Then we can start working whenever you're ready to." I said, writing the topic in my notes.

He saw someone on the beach in his peripheral vision and sighed, keeping his eyes on the waves.

He nodded a little,"Alright," he said to her as he sighed,"I'll go to the library tonight," he said to her.

She continued to take pictures making sure not to get the man on the further end of the beach in her shot out of respect.

I nodded a little. "Alright, what time should I be there?" I asked him, hearing the bell ring.

He sighed a little, standing up and heading back up the beach. He saw a woman up the beach taking pictures and politely stayed out of her way, not wanting to get in her shot. He couldn't see what she looked like, the camera blocked her face.

"Four?" he said to her.

She sighed and looked out at the ocean then looked at the pictures on her camera before turning to the woods. She sighed a little, the trees were so tall.

"Alright, then I'll meet you at four." I murmured, grabbing my things and heading towards my locker.

He had to walk up by her in order to get by the trees, so he walked towards her, slightly veering to the side to head for the trees. He saw her out of the corner of his eye and froze, not knowing what had happened to him. He felt as if his heart was swelling, and he felt kind of dizzy. But somehow he knew that she was it, the one the elders had told him about.

She saw him walk by her and smiled in his direction then continued to take pictures of the tree line.

He nodded a little and sighed as he got up

I walked over to the cafeteria, wanting to get some food before I left. I loved having only morning classes. I put my bag down at a table and went to one of the cold vendors, getting a wrap out to eat before I left.

He rubbed the back of his neck, not knowing how to go about this. He could now tell her everything, but would she believe him? Would she reject him? He didn't even know her name. He walked over to her slowly, at a loss for words for the first time in his life.

"Uh, hi."

She smiled,"Hi," she said to him as she looked up from her camera, "My name is Quinn," she said to him as she licked her lips a little and let the camera hang on her neck.

He smiled weakly. "Quinn. Hi. My name is Sam." He said with a shrug. "You're a photographer?" He asked her softly, not knowing what else to ask her about.

She nodded a little,"Yeah," she smiled a little,"I run a small business on the side while I'm in college," she explained to him, "Aren't you cold?" she asked suddenly noticing he was only in sweats.

He shook his head slightly. "Cold? No, I'm fine. I'm actually warm." He admitted, holding his hand out to her. "See?"

She touched his hand and shook her head,"Crazy," she murmured lightly, "I just moved here so I feel the need to capture everything I see on camera; I actually really love it here," she said to him softly, "So far anyway," she laughed weakly.

He smiled a little. Her laugh was beautiful. "No, you're right. It's beautiful here. If you want, I could show you some places around that I think are absolutely amazing. It would be nice to take pictures of, I mean."
