Steve shook his head. "No, no it doesn't." He said. None of what Bucky did made him a bad person. He refused to believe that it did. Not only that, he knew that it didn't. He knew that the man sitting before him wasn't his best friend but he also knew that he was only doing what he thought was the right thing. That was all Bucky had ever done: the right thing. He was always there for him when he needed him, always there to pull him out of street scraps when he was in way over his head, always there to take care of him when he was sick, always there when he needed someone to confide in. He was a good man. That was one thing that Steve knew for sure. "Of course, Buck. You didn't even have to ask. We can go home now. You're coming home."

It wasn't until Steve said those word, said that he was coming home that Bucky started wondering why he was running away from him for so long. He raised his head from his hand and made one simple demand. "Alone." Bucky knew that Steve wasn't traveling alone. He knew the man with the metal wings was with him as well. He didn't want to see anyone else but Steve. "That's all I asked." Bucky stood up and pulled cash out of his pocket. He dropped it on the table. He then took out a spare key card for his hotel and dripped that on the table as well, in front of Steve. "Alone." Bucky repeated before turning and leaving.

Steve nodded. "I understand, that's fine." He said. He could see why his friend wouldn't want anyone else going with him. It was fairly evident that Steve was lucky that he trusted him enough to get him to agree to this. And it was understandable that he wouldn't trust Sam or anyone else. Not just yet anyway. He watched Bucky leave before going to break the news to Sam. His friend didn't mind though, he understood completely, though he did tell him to check in with him later on just so he knew everything went alright.

Glancing at the key card in his hand, he saw the name of the hotel. It was the same one that he and Sam were staying in. The room number indicated that it was a room two floors above theirs. This whole thing was sort of surreal. He'd found Bucky, and they were going home. Things were finally starting to look up, and he hoped they stayed that way. Shoving his hands into his pockets, he walked down the sidewalk and back to the hotel. Instead of going to the room he and Sam were staying in, he went straight to Bucky's, letting himself in using the key card. "Buck? It's me."

Bucky was sitting at his desk only in a pair of shorts. He looked a little better now. His unshaven beard was gone and he took a comb to his hair for the first time in a while. His mind was clear now and he felt like he could have an actual conversation with Steve. "So you found me. Now what?"

(Sorry I'm kinda drawing a blank as to what I want to do with these two lol)

"Now we go home." Steve said simply. "If you really want to..." He rubbed the back of his neck awkwardly. He hoped that his friend had meant it when he said that he wanted to go home with him. He just wanted to help and be there for him like he always used to be. "Home is in DC...I know it used to be Brooklyn, but it's DC now...I guess you know that though?" He was kind of just rambling now. He didn't know why. He was always comfortable around Bucky, but things were different now. Maybe it was because it had been seventy years since they'd last really had a conversation. He didn't really know though. It was strange.

Bucky could relax now. With Steve being there he knew deep down that he was safe. That no one could hurt him. Even before Steve was Captain America a part of him knew that that was true. Steve and Bucky until the end. It seemed like the end escaped them. Seventy years he can only imagine that all of their friends were dead. So odd. "Such a silly promise." He mumbled, eyes on Steve, "But fate makes us keep it." He turned away and slipped on a shirt before grabbing his bag. "Hydra couldn't keep us apart." Bucky wanted to be light and carefree like he used to be, but he knew that that was going to take some time. "DC... yeah I know." Of course he knew. He knew everything about Captain America, who turned out to be best friends with the man that Hydra beat to submission. "We should make it Brooklyn again." A simple shrug. Bucky didn't even know what Brooklyn looked like anymore. Sure he must have been there before for a mission, but those times his mind was a haze and he had no idea that that was once his home.

Steve looked to his friend, eyebrows furrowing slightly in confusion. It took him a second but, without actually asking his friend, he realized what he was referring to. "It wasn't a silly promise." He said. "If it was, we wouldn't have found each other again, Buck. You might not see it that way, but that's how I see it. If it was just a silly promise, we wouldn't be standing here in this room together." It was something that would always have a deep meaning for Steve. Even when he thought Bucky was dead, it meant something to him. It haunted him sometimes even. He thought that he'd broken that promise. He and Bucky were always supposed to be there for each other, and he hadn't been able to save him. Steve saw this as a second chance. "You want to go back to Brooklyn?" He asked, eyebrows raising in surprise.

Bucky nodded at Steve's question. "I want back as much of my life as I can. I can start with going back home, home. To Brooklyn. Or maybe home is with you. I don't know." With his shirt on Bucky grabbed his bag and slung it over his shoulder. "I'm ready." He headed for the door. Bucky was ready to say goodbye to this life. He was done with it. He wanted to be normal again. No more fighting. No more killing. He just wanted to be James from before the war.

Steve was honestly surprised that Bucky wanted to go back there, though he supposed that his reasoning behind wanting that made perfect sense. "If you want to go back to Brooklyn, we can. I'll have to look for an apartment there though, I've been living in DC for a few years now." He wouldn't mind going back to Brooklyn, though he hoped that it wouldn't overwhelm his friend. It wasn't like how he probably remembered it. "Alright, lets go." He started towards the door.

"Steve, I want you to know that you don't need to treat me any different. Last time we truly spoke was back in the forties. Unlike you I wasn't down for 70 years. I was brought back all through the years. I know things have changed. I have been the cause of many changes. I just want to get past all this and move on with my life." Bucky grabbed his things and followed after Steve. "I don't mind going to DC for the time being, but I feel like I will not be able to find Bucky until I get back to Brooklyn, back home. I know it's not the same, but our roots are there."

Steve nodded his head slowly. "Alright, I'll keep that in mind." He said. So maybe he didn't have to worry so much about New York being too overwhelming for his friend. That still didn't solve the issue of finding a place to stay in Brooklyn. "I'm going to call in a favor with a friend and see if they know of any vacant apartments up for rent in the Brooklyn area. For now, we can stay at my apartment in DC."
