Right Where I Need to Be

Brooke pressed her tongue against his once, twice, three times. She could feel her resolve slowly melting away, but when his hand began to drift lower, it brought her crashing back to reality and she tore her mouth away from his.

"Luke," she moaned regretfully. "Please, stop. We can't do this. I'm leaving here in two months. There's not enough time and we just...we can't." Without giving him time to respond, she moved out of his hold and fled to the house.

Luke watched her flee into the house, before throwing his head back and groaning. She was going to be the death of him. It was stupid of him to kiss her. She wasn't his type, and she was his bosses neice. And she was...driving him crazy. He rubbed his face before stomping over and grabbing blue jeans reins.
He pulled her into the barn, starting to untack her. After he'd put all the equipment away and brushed her down, he headed towards his house. He needed a shower, and maybe a strong drink.

When Brooke got into the house, she immediately went to take a cold shower. After the duel make out sessions with Luke, her body felt beyond over heated, so standing under the cool spray was a relief like no other.

She stayed in her room until dinnertime, and then finally headed down to grab a bite to eat. As usual, Kay was in the kitchen preparing the meal, and Thomas was in his office. Luke was nowhere to be seen, and Brooke couldn't help but feel a bit relieved at that. She hoped maybe he wouldn't show at all; that way they could avoid the inevitable awkwardness that would ensue.

Like stepped into the kitchen, seeing Kay preparing dinner. He greeted her before heading towards Thomas's office, wanting to tell him about the fence that he had repaired.

After explaining to his boss where the fence had been torn down, Luke headed towards the dining room. He froze momentarily when he saw a glimpse of Brooke in the kitchen. With a deep breath, he pulling a nonchalant facade and leaned against the door frame. "You gals need any help?" He asked, barely sparing Brooke a glance.

Brooke jumped and whirled around, seeing Luke had suddenly appeared in the doorway of the kitchen. She quickly turned back away from him and cursed under her breath, because that was just her luck. Of course he would show up.

"Could you two set the table?" Kay requested. Brooke gritted her teeth, but smiled and nodded at her aunt, nonetheless. She headed over to the cupboard to grab the plates, and still did her very best not to meet Luke's gaze as she walked by him into the dining room.

Luke nodded, and grabbed the silverware and cloth napkins. He placed them on the table the way he knew Kay liked them.

"You want sweet tea?" He asked, raising his eyebrow.

Luke wanted nothing more than to pull her into the nearest room and kiss her senseless, but he would respect her wishes. She didn't want anything to happen between them, so he would act like nothing ad happened.

Brooke looked at him, caught off guard by the casual way in which he addressed her. She didn't understand why he was being so cool about their current predicament, while she was so distressed.

"Uh, sure," Brooke replied. She sat down at the table and rested her chin in the palm of one hand. She felt horribly overwhelmed by everything that had occurred, and to top it all off, Luke was acting like nothing happened. How that was even possible, she wasn't sure, but it pissed her off to no end.

Luke stepped into the kitchen, and poured everyone's drink, according to what they liked. He cast a glance at Brooke out of the corner of his eye. He could tell she was feeling a bit...awkward about the whole situation, but he was hoping by his acting like nothing was wrong, it would be about easier on her.

When dinner was finally ready, Brooke tore into her food like a mad woman. She hadn't eaten anything all day long, which wasn't good for her at all, but she didn't really care. It wasn't an eating disorder; she just had a bad habit of avoiding food all day until suppertime.

"Someone's hungry," Kay commented. "You must've really worked up at appetite today, huh?"

Brooke coughed awkwardly, before looking at her aunt and smiling. "Yeah, sure. It was...a lot of work." She didn't say anything else after that, and Kay seemed to pick up on her niece's apprehension, so she turned to Luke.

"How was it out there, Lukey? Anything interesting happen?"

"Oh you know, the usual; mucking stalls, checking the fence, Broken fence, mud fights, repairing fence, water fights, feeding the animals, so forth so on." He gave Kay a crooked grin before taking a ship off his tea.

He didn't want to lie to Kay or Thomas, but he couldn't tell them he'd spent part of the day making out with their niece.

Brooke felt like vomiting as she listened to Luke's description of the days events. She was glad that he didn't tell her aunt and uncle about what had taken place between them, but his calm, cool, and collected demeanor made her really want to punch him.

Instead, she placed her fork down and cleared her throat. "May I be excused? I really need to take a shower and get some sleep. Today was... a lot."

Kay smiled and patted her niece on the hand. "Sure thing, hon."

Brooke smiled at her elders, but when she looked to Luke, annoyance flooded her veins again. Before really considering it, she lifted her right foot off the floor and swiftly connected it with one of Luke's shins. She stood from the table and, after bidding everyone a good night, quickly left the room.

Luke coughed to cover up his grunt of pain as she kicked him in the shin. She really needed to stop doing that. He made sure that he didn't watch her as she went up the stairs. He didn't want to seem like he was overly concerned with what she did, else Kay ask start asking question.

When Brooke got into her room, she pulled out the phone Luke gave her and popped in the SIM card from her old phone. All of her contacts transferred over, much to her relief, and she quickly sent out a mass text to let everyone know her new phone number. After doing that, she dialed her friend Ashley's number and hit the call button.

"Hello?" she answered, after a few long moments.

"Hey, bitch," Brooke replied, greeting her pretty much the same way she always did. They proceeded to catch up a bit once again, with Ashley telling Brooke about all the things she's missing back home, while Brooke filled her friend in on the oh-so-exciting goings on at the farm.

"I feel so bad for you," Ashley laughed. "But, hey, so, are you like...okay?"

"What do you mean?" Brooke asked, caught off guard by the sudden subject change.

"Well, after we talked about Kevin and Brielle last time, you didn't seem like you were okay."

"Oh, that! No, it's whatever. I actually forgot all about it."

"You forgot? I would've thought you'd be...wait a minute. Did you meet someone down there?! OHMYGOD, you did, didn't you?!"

Brooke went wide-eyed. "What? No!" Ashley laughed on the other end, and Brooke could feel her cheeks heating in embarrassment. "I didn't meet anyone! I just...forgot about it. There's so much going on here and I...gah, Ash, I would've thought you'd be happy I wasn't dwelling on dumbass Kevin and bitch Brielle."

Ashley seemed to accept that answer, and much to Brooke's relief, the subject was changed once again.

After dinner, Luke helped Kay pick up the dishes before heading towards his house. He stepped inside long enough to plug his phone up, kick his boots off, and grab a beer from the barely stocked fridge. He stepped back onto his porch, taking a seat on the edge of the step. He took a swig of his beer as he looked around. He happened to catch a glimpse of Brooke's room, seeing that her bedroom light was still on.

Brooke finished her conversation with Ashley not too much later. After hanging up, she scrolled through the dozen texts that came through from her friends back home, replied to a few, and then plugged it in to charge.

She stood from her bed and approached the dresser to find some pajamas to change into, but along the way, her eyes caught movement from outside. Almost immediately, she figured out it was Luke over at his house, and a mix of emotions rushed over her. She was still annoyed at the fact that he seemed to be finding it so easy to act like nothing had happened between them, while she struggled just to get him off her mind.

Without even thinking it through, Brooke made the decision that Luke needed to be punished in some way. So, with a wicked grin, she stepped more towards the window and reached for the edge of her shirt.

Luke had just looked away from her window, when out of the corner of his eye, he saw her step in front of it. He glanced back, bringing his beer up to his lips once more. He paused his actions however, when he noticed her hands go to the bottom of her shirt. He inhaled deeply, feeling the majority of his blood rush south at the thought of her soft skin being exposed to him.

Brooke wasn't entirely sure if he could even see her or not, but just at the off chance he could, she moved forward with her little plan. She pulled her shirt over her head, a bit slower than necessary, and then threw it on the floor behind her. She then moved onto her shorts, unbuttoning and slowly pushing them down her legs. When the only thing left was her bra and panties, she made another show of nonchalantly stretching her arms high above her head and sighing contentedly as her bones crackled.

Instead of stopping there, Brooke decided to take it just one step further. She reached for the latch on her bra, and when it came undone, she let the material begin to fall. Just as her breasts were about to be exposed, she quickly turned away from the window, and just like that, the show was over. Brooke couldn't help but laugh, thinking about Luke's reaction, as she walked over and shut off the bedroom light.

Luke knew he should look away, he honestly did. And had it been any other female, he would have. But there was something about Brooke that made him lose himself slightly. He greedily took in the skin she exposed, his eyes raking over the creamy flesh.

He shifted slightly as she slipped her shorts off. The window was just low enough that he could see the very top of her panties. His own pants were becoming increasingly tighter, and he groaned low in his throat.

When her hands went behind her back to what he assumed was the clasp of her bra, he shifted again, in jeans becoming uncomfortable. Before her breasts could be exposed to him, she turned from him. He froze, letting out a puff of breath.

Before she could come back to the window, he quickly stood up and stepped inside his door. He shut the door, leaning his forehead against it as he replayed the scene in his head, repeatedly.

"Fuck," he swore lowly, knowing that he was in deep shit.

Brooke awoke in a rather good mood the next morning. She was still flying high after her little show the night before, despite the fact that she wasn't even sure if Luke had seen. Whether he did or not, Brooke was certain she'd find out soon enough.

She got out of bed and stretched, before approaching her dresser to pick out some clothes for the day. She took off the over-sized shirt she'd thrown on after her strip tease the night before, and pulled out a few articles of clothing to choose from. After looking over the outfits for a moment, she settled on a cute flannel she got from Forever 21 not too long ago, and a pair of cut off shorts.

Just as she began to dress, a few knocks rapped at her bedroom door.

After a very long shower the night before, Luke had went to bed, falling into a very restless sleep. He'd tossed and turned all night, waking up that morning more frustrated than he'd been the night before.

Luke made his way to the main house, trying his hardest not to so much as glance at Brooke's window. He was determined not to let her know he'd seen her. She didn't want anything to happen between them, so he would act as normal as possible.

Just as he stepped into the kitchen, and reached for a coffee mug, Kay came into the room from the dining room.

"Hey Luke, Brooke's not down and breakfast will be ready in just a few minutes. Can you please go knock on her door and see if she's awake yet?" Kay asked, pouring pancake batter into the pan on the stove.

Luke gave her a nod, placing his coffee mug onto the dining room table as he passed it before heading up the stairs. He paused at her door, and took a deep breath before knocking a few times.
