Hold On Tight

A thief and a speedster, how much trouble could they possibly get into.

Remy was sat cross legged on the sofa with his cats, Oliver perched on his shoulder while Lucifer and Figaro were curled up in his lap. He had his kindle in one hand, ostensibly reading A Clash of Kings, but in reality he was paying more attention to stroking the two cats in his lap.
"So what's this mission you were texting me about?" He asked when Pietro appeared in the common room, "And why me? Why not Lorna or the others?"

"Lorna is crazy enough as is," Pietro pulled up a chair from the dining room and sat near Remy, "So if she found out that her dear little nephews were tortured by AIM she'd probably do some really horrible irreversible damage." He let an arm dangle over the side of the chair, tapping his nails against the wood trying to get one of the cats' attention, preferably Lucifer. "The others, their too goody goody to do what I need them to do." Pietro took a breath hating the thought that his favorite nephew was hurt because of him, even though he had no idea that AIM was well aiming for him. "Look, they have this machine set up to capture me. Some annoying sound that only speedsters can hear and well they messed with the wrong speedster when they captured and tortured Speed. Plain and simple, I want revenge. I want to destroy them and kill everyone that hurt Tommy." This was the most emotion that Pietro had ever shown for a family member that wasn't Wanda, but the kid had really grown on him so he allowed himself to show a little emotion over what was done to Tommy.

Remy dropped his kindle on the sofa next to him, giving up all pretence at reading it. "Mon dieu." He absently herded the cat towards Pietro, expression grim at the thought of the two Young Avengers being tortured. He'd never really met them, but it didn't matter. No-one should be subject to something like that, especially kids who'd done nothing expect try and help people.
"If they have some anti-speedster device, is it the best idea for you to go in?" He pointed out, although he understood Pietro's desire for revenge against his family. They rarely agreed on anything, but with something like this there wasn't anything to disagree on - they couldn't let AIM get away with hurting innocent kids.

A small smile formed on Pietro's lips when the cats made their way to his. Lucifer, just as he had hoped, dropped to the ground and started swatting at Pietro's drumming fingers. "That's why I came here first, instead of dropping Luna off with Wanda and racing over there." He bent down further so he could pet the other cats that were now rubbing on him.

"Though we have another situation. They have a portal that they use to teleport out of tight situations and after my nephews were rescued what was left of AIM fled and I'm not too sure where they are now. Think you can do something about that?"

"What is the world coming to when a speedster isn't rushing in?" Remy commented, watching as his cats wound around Pietro's legs, He was surprised that they liked the other man as much as they did, what with the amount of sudden movements he made on a regular basis.
"I'll contact some people. They should be able to give us an idea of where to look," he nodded. He pulled out his phone and sent a few quick texts trusting that Nil or one of his other contacts would know something or someone who could tell them where AIM fled to.

And just like that the chair banged on the ground, cats jumping and running away to hide, and Pietro was at Remy's side punching his shoulder. "Shut up. Excuse me for not wanting to get captured and tortured." He looked into Remy's black and red eyes, "You're an ass." He wasn't going to say thanks for the help, no he couldn't admit to that much.

Pietro pulled out his phone and brought up a map. "According to Wanda this is where their base was at. And these two places Clint says these are the last information the Avengers had on AIM. They went to this one and haven't touch this one that's more inland. Let me know when you find something."

He was gone again and in under 10 seconds he was next to Remy again, carrying three very frightened cats who at the second they could jumped and climbed all over Remy.

"Maybe it woud improve your temperment. And you love my ass," Remy retorted, obviously not serious about thinking Pietro should get kidnpped, but they knew each other well enough that he could make bad or tasteless jokes. He peered down at the map, just about managing to make a mental note of the three places before the phone was gone.
"Yeah, yeah, as soon as I do." He set about calming down the three cats, wincing a little when one of them dug their claws into his leg in fright.
"Look what you've done now."

"Yeah we all know you only work out so you can try and show off that ass to me. Sorry Remy, but I'm not interested." Complete and total lie. Pietro snuck a look at Remy's ass whenever he could. But could you blame him when the Cajun is just flaunting his ass around.

Pietro shrugged. "I didn't do it. You provoked me." He picked up Lucifer, "I'm so sorry your papa is such an ass that he scares you." He spoke in a cutesy voice that he hoped would calm the kitty down. Pietro set the cat down on his lap and started to pet it, soothing it. "Hmm, Luna would probably love to have a kitten and Crystal would probably hate it. Where can I get one?"

"Actually it's to keep my fitness up for when I need to break into places but feel free to keep your delusions if it makes you feel better." Remy knew he was good looking and all the gymnastics he did both in the field and while training made sure his body was just as toned, but usually he didn't let it go to his head. Only when he was winding up Pietro and picking women up in bars. He didn't admit to himself how similar his attitudes to both were.
"Liar." He stroked Oliver and Figaro, leaning down to whisper to then," Ignore the nasty man. He's just wound uo too tight all the time." Looking back at Pietro, he replied, "A pet shop or a breeder. You just gotta check em out first to make sure they're reputable and treat the animals right."

Pietro simply rolled his eyes at Remy. "I'll have to look for a kitten after I destroy AIM."

Pietro sat there for all of 2 minutes petting the cat before he was suddenly on his feet pacing back and forth. "This is taking too long." He was gone and in just a moment he was back in his usual blue and white suit. "Suit up or I'm leaving without you."

Remy set his cats down on the floor and then hurried to hsi room, calling out as he went, "Not everyone haa superspeed you know." Taking Pietro's lead he quickly changed into his iconic costume, complete with full trench coat. As he was pulling his boots on he got a message back from one of his contacts, telling him of a possible location.
"Got somewhere to check out," He informed the speedster as he strode back into the main room, "Now let's get out of here before someone wonders what we're doing dressed like this."

"And that's a real shame. The world of so much more amazing when you're traveling as fast as I do." Pietro smirked, his eyes lingering where Remy had disappeared into his room. It felt like forever. In the time that Remy was gone Pietro had given all of the cats personal attention, drank a cup of coffee, and made a large sandwich that he was finishing up when Remy finally walked out.

"Yeah well this is personal, no need to go in there representing Serval or X-Factor." Pietro held out a hand for Remy to take. "Where to?"

"No, I get it, but I can't imagine Harry's going to be particularly happy if he finds out." Remy showed him the location on his phone, before stowing it securely in his pocket and only then taking Pietro's hand. It felt a bit weird, but it wasn't any worse than being carried. There wasn't really a dignified way of travelling via speedster.

(I feel like I should change my ava to Gambit to match my character. There.)

"Does it look like I care what Harry thinks?" Pietro gave Remy a hard look. "Like I said, personal. He can't fire me for acting of my own accord." He quickly memorized the location then held on tight to Remy's hand and pulled him onto his back. "Lay low and hold tight." And they were gone. It took only minutes before Pietro stopped on a hill in front of the AIM base. He set Remy down and got low, hiding. "Stay here, I'm going to check it out." Without letting Remy get a word in Pietro was gone, lapping the perimeter of the base. "Looks like this may be it."

(Well if you change yours I'll change mine back to Pietro. Either that or I'll just cycle through the members of X-Factor. )

"He can't fire you because Lorna threatened to disband the team if he did," Remy smirked, clinging on tight so he didn't fall off Pietro's back at superspeed. Once they arrived, he crouched down and peered at the base, looking out for guards while waiting for Pietro to return.
"Okay, I'll open the door for us. Stick close in case they have that machine." He got to his feet and snuck as close as he could without being seen, then threw a few charged cards at the door. The explosion blew it clean off it's hinges and took out the soldiers guarding it.

Pietro said nothing about what Lorna had said to Harry. He didn't know she had threatened him like that. It made him feel almost wanted by his sister. That was nice. He kind of missed having a family member around that didn't actually hate him.

When the door was gone Pietro ran inside and took out the rest of the guards. He wasn't going to admit it, but he really was going to stay close to Remy, which was utterly painful to him. "Why do you have to be so slow?" Pietro groaned as he circled back and was at Gambit's side again. "Don't care too much about the guard. I want the head scientist. I want his bloods on my hands. I want him dead."

"Why do you have to be so impatient?" Remy shot back as he ran further into the base, throwing cards whenever he saw movement. When he reached the first large laboratory, he pulled out his bo staff and extended it, before using it in combination with his power to destroy all the equipment in there. It had the added effect of sending the two scientists in there flying, knocking them out cold. He wasn't going to say anything, but it unnerved him how bloodthirsty Pietro was acting, even if the reason behind it was perfectly understandable.

"Too much to do. You're just wasting time." Seeing that everything was destroyed in the first room and that there was no one he could question, Pietro ran to the next room where there stood just one guy this time. The scientist was in a panic, hitting the alarms and then running for the nearest exit. Pietro laughed. "Really?" In a blink he was at the man's side, grabbing him by the collar of his shirt and slamming him to the ground. "Who is in charge of capturing me? Who wanted to capture me? Tell me!" He slammed the guy's head onto the ground a few times. He could see the blood stains already forming on the floor. The guy raised his hand and pointed up to an office that had large windows that overlooked everything. "Gambit!" He shouted back, "We're going up." A final slam to the ground and Pietro was off again, making his way alone to where the scientist had pointed to.

Remy ran into the room after Pietro, torn between letting Pietro make his own choices and stopping him from doing something he might later regret. Luckily the scientist answered his question before he killed him. Remy didn't spare a look for the unconscious man, hurrying after his teammate in case he did something rash. He was very aware of the fact that AIM apparently had a weapon that could take down a speedster with a flick of a switch, and was worried that Pietro's thirst for vengeance would lead him into a trap. Running in the direction the scientist had pointed, he jumped onto a table and then leaped for one of the ceiling struts, using the momentum to swing himself up onto the walkway outside the office.
