A Night In Braunschweig. [closed]

Timothy sighed in exasperation and asked her, "Would you rather have houses searched or people being murdered left and right for no good reason?" He frowned at the girl, shaking his head. He sure was stubborn and he strongly felt that he was doing the right thing. He rubbed his hand down his face and told her, "I'm sorry that they're searching your homes."

Unfortunately, the people who were coming were coming because they hear Alice's voice in there with Kass. A young American soldier approached her and demanded that she tell him what she had said to Kass. She cowered away from him and told him she didn't speak to him, but the soldier didn't believe her. He moved and reached his hand back, striking her hard across the face where she had been hit before. "If you are going to be a traitor, we're going to cast you out onto the streets and you can fend for yourself! This is war, damn it!"

Mariska frowned, "You're not sorry. You just want to have things your way. That's how americans are." She said as she crossed her arms. She was very stubborn and on edge now. She use to be kind and care free, but war had a way of changing people. Mariska frowned when she heard boots walking near the alley. She looked over seeing nazi soldiers. She grabbed Timothy and hugged him, trying to make it look convincing so they would leave them alone.

Kass managed to get his hands free then left his seat and began to beat the man who had struck her. He fought as the other men pulled him off. He looked at her then groaned as they began to beat him. He was sick of them hurting someone who was just trying to help.

Timothy hugged her back, turning his face away from the nazis and spoke softly to her in a light tone so they didn't suspect anything, "I am sorry, but sacrifices have to be made in a war. I'll do my best to make sure no one else is harmed here, especially while they search homes. Believe it or not, I do care."

Alice stood there, her green eyes wide with both fear and shock. Why would a German soldier retaliate against the man to hit her? She then moved before she even though about her actions and began pounding her fists against the soldiers who began to beat him. "Stop! Enough!" They began turning on her and shoved her back, one of them striking her again so she'd stay down while they beat Kass.

Mariska relaxed in his arms as they waited for the men to keep walking. She watched as they walked away then she stepped back. "You realize what they will do if they find you?" She asked. "You will be lucky if you even make it to be tortured." She said. She ran her fingers through her hair, "You can't promise people wont be hurt." She said.

Kass gasped as they beat him then watched as they left. He spit the blood from his mouth. Kass sat up on his knees and wiped his lip off. He couldn't believe that all this was happening to him. He would never see his family again. He looked over at Alice then looked at the ground. He may have been their enemy but he knew that a man should never hit a lady.

"No, I can't promise that. But I can promise to do my best to keep people from being harmed. You don't much about us Americans, but we are trying to do the right thing. I just want to help." Timothy ran his hand through his dark hair and looked down at the female before him. He didn't know what else to say to her.

Alice held her head and silent tears fell down her flushed cheeks. She whispered one more word to him before falling silent once more, "Danke.." She knew her actions would most likely get her sent out onto the streets now, which terrified her because she had nowhere else to go.

Mariska looked up at him and sighed, "I just hope that you're right." She said. She stepped away, "I should get home now." She said before leaving him alone. Mariska went to her porch and sat down as she waited for her mom to get home.

Kass looked at her and nodded. He got up then helped her up. He knew that he had get out of here. He started to pace the room and look for a way out. He sighed when he couldn't find a way out.

Timothy sighed quietly as he watched Mariska move away from him and back towards her home. He then fastened the scarf back around his face and headed back to get a bit more sleep before he had to back out for the night in the worst part of town around them. He knew it was going to be an extensive and dangerous fight, and he needed to be in as good of condition as possible.

"Es gibt eine geheime Tür hinter dem Medizinschrank dort.." Alice pointed across the room to a tall metal cabinet and looked at Kass. If he could help her, they could move it and both escape. She was afraid though because she would have to be on the run and most likely could not return to America again.

Mariska was walking home from a dance with her friends that night and waved as she went her separate way. She frowned when she saw a few soldiers up again. Mariska rolled her eyes as the one stepped in front of her, "Kind of dangerous for a young lady to be out alone." HE said. Mariska went to go around him but stopped when he stepped in front of her, "Leave me alone." She muttered. She went to keep walking but the one man grabbed her arm.

Kass nodded then got up and helped her move it. He looked over making sure that nobody heard. HE sighed as he opened the door then led her out of the place. "wie kommen wir hier raus?" He whispered as they walked through the tunnel. He saw the door at the end and opened it and began to sprint with her through the field. He realized she was a lot slower than him so he picked her up and took off running. Once they were in the woods he set her down and kept walking with her.

The soldiers were American and Timothy was wotht them that night. He was in the vehicle while the others were patrolling the streets looking for German soldiers. He glanced atound slowly as he tried to keep track of where the other men were in case they needed help. That was when he saw one of the soldiers harassing Mariska. He slowly climbed out and called out, "What's going on over there? He scowled at the soldier, waiting for him to stop messing with her.

Alice was a bit surprised when Kass picked her up, but clung tightly to him as he ran with her in his arms. She moved a little away from him as they began walking and stared at the ground, running her fingers through her hair. "Tut mir leid, das passiert ist. Ich weiß nicht, was jetzt zu tun. Ich habe nirgendwo zu gehen." She let out a heavy sigh and rubbed her eyes. She was out of a job and in a strange country and had escaped with a nazi. This sure wasn't what she'd signed up for.

Mariska frowned when the guy let go of her arm. She stepped back from them and looked at Timothy. "You're friends are jerks." She muttered as she looked aorund. She hated that she was stuck in the middle of this now. She frowned as the guy glared at her and she stepped behind Timothy.

Kass looked at her and sighed as he helped her over on of the logs. "Bleib einfach bei mir. Ich werde dich beschützen." He said as he took her hand and led her through the woods. Kass looked around, trying to find somewhere to hide for them.

"I'll take you home," Timothy called to Mariska before giving the other soldier a dangerous look. "Don't harass any more young ladies tonight, Johnson, or I will let your superiors know." He turned swiftly and led Mariska to the car. "I'm sorry about him. He's always been like this and has gotten reprimanded for it, yet he still does it." He shook his head and sighed.

Alice held tightly to his hand as he led her, her eyes wide in fear. "Wo werden wir gehen?" Just by looking at her, it was obvious she was not the outdoorsy type and would not be able to survive in the wilderness alone. She was still weary about Mass, butshe didn't have much choice and he did say he'd protect her.

Mariska looked at him, "Some some people need to take care of guys like that." She said as she walked with him. She crossed her arms as she walked down the street to her house with him. She looked a thim, "Thanks for making them leave me alone." She said as she stood at the bottom of her stairs.

Kass looked at her, "Ich bin mir noch nicht sicher. Überall, nur nicht hier." He said as he took her hand. He made his way through the woods then smirked when he saw a small farm house ahead. "Komm schon." HE said as they walked towards the man in the field. Kass looked at the man, holding his hands up. HE was surprised when the guy offered to shelter them. Though most germans didn't mind helping him out. Kass led her into the house then looked around as they stepped inside.

Timothy stood a few feet away from her while she headed towards the stairs. "It was nothing,'" He told her and chuckled softly, scratching the side of the face. "Don't I get anything for my efforts?" He asked her in a joking manner and tapped his cheek. His lips curved up into a slight smile that revealed he had dimples.

Alice politely but briefly thanked the man and kept hold of Kass's much larger hand as they moved into the house. She was trembling a little because she was terrified, but she said nothing for a while. When she finally did speak, she asked the homeowner, "Dürfen wir hier bleiben für die Nacht? Wir haben nirgendwo anders hingehen." She played nervously with a lock of her soft brown hair and lightly bit her lip.

Mariska looked at him and turned around. She smiled then kissed his cheek, "Goodnight." She said as she stepped back. She walked up the stairs then went inside. She shut the door then walked up to her bedroom and got ready for bed.

Kass looked around the house then looked at Alice when she asked the owner if they could stay there. He was relieved when the man agreed. Kass sat down in one of the chairs offered to him and rubbed the scruff that had grown on his chin. He wasn't sure how to get help or get out of this situation.

Timothy grinned after she kissed his cheek and watched her go up the stairs before turning and heading off to back to his post. When he returned to it, he tried his best to keep himself focused on the task at hand. He remained there until the early morning hours.

Alice sat down in a chair by him and hugged herself. "Wollen Sie halten zusammen oder gehen getrennte Wege?" She whispered to him, biting her lip yet again, looking up at him, hoping he'd want to stay together rather than going in different directions.

Mariska walked out of her house the next morning and made her way to the grocery store. She walked in and began to get the things on her list that her mother had given her. She knew that she should get back quickly so her mom could start to cook dinner because it had to cook all day.

Kass looked over at her, seeing how afraid she looked. "Bleiben wir zusammen für jetzt, bis wir herausfinden, was wir tun werden." He smiled at her then looked down at the food that was placed in front of them. He was starving.

A man near the back of the store was being beaten brutally, and he didn't try to fight back and no one else attempted to help him out. Though his face could not be seen from where Mariska was, his large, muscular figure looked somewhat familiar.

Alice visibly relaxed at Kass's words and she smiled a little before thanking the homeowner and beginning to eat. Normally, Alice was a graceful and delicate person, but she was hungry and she wasted no time digging into the meal without giving Kass a second glance while she ate.

Mariska bit her bottom lip lightly as she glanced towards the back of the store. She took her things to the counter and watched as they started to ring her items up.

Kass began to stuff his face and when he was finished he looked at the man, "Danke" He said to him. He listened to the man when he said he was going to take them to their room. Kass stood up and walked with him. He knew they would have to share a room, but he was sure they would work something out.

The man being beaten never made a sound, and soon the Nazi soldier grew tired of getting no reaction so he delivered one last blow to the man's face before exiting the grocery store. The man was left there to fend for himsslf, on his hands and knees. His head slowly rose and his familiar face came into view. Timothy. Blood streamed down his face from a few nasty looki6wounds and he spit a mouthful of blood onto the ground.

Alice carefully set her dishes down and followed after the two men to the room she and Kass were to share. Since she had worked with almost all men back at the hospital, it didn't seem to bother her too much that they would be sharing a room; she had shared a room with two soldiers before she'd run off with Kass.
