The evening air was cold as Marcus stood at the back of the building he was performing at. He had about twenty minutes until show time and he hated spending it inside the dark, sometimes overly warm back stage areas. They were only doing one set tonight but Marcus was still hoping for a decent turnout. A hand in his face pulled his attention to his drummer, Ted, and the joint in that hand. With half a shrug, he took the joint, took a hit and offered it to Lance, who turned it down. The joint ended up back in Ted's hand and they were only a minute closer to show time. Marcus hated times like this. The time just seemed to drag by and he had almost nothing to do until they went on stage.

Gabby sighed as her friend, Emily, pulled her into the building where the concert was. Gabby looked around at all the people then looked at her friend, "Em, no offense but i don't really fit in here." She said as he friend pulled her through the crowd. Gabby had never been one to go to rock shows or anything like that. Mostly because her parents would kill her if they found out. Of course tonight they thought she was just having an extra study session with Emily for their big test coming up. Gabby stood in the crowd with Emily as the show was about to start. She crossed her arms as she stood next to Emily. She wasn't a fan of huge crowds or people being extremely close to her.

A door opened up and one of the stage hands peeked their head out. "Ten minutes guys." He said and disappeared. Together, we pushed off the wall and made our way into the building. Marcus pulled the hoodie out from over his heard to reveal a black and dark gray striped tank top that paired nicely with the black, distressed skinny jeans he was wearing. He set the hoodie next to his guitar case and pulled the trap to his sleek, red guitar over his head. "Ready guys?" Marcus asked as he, Ted, and Lance joined their backup vocals/lead guitarist, Erik, at the edge of the stage. At their chorus of yeses, he pulled a pick from his pocket and took the first step toward center stage. "Let's do this." He said quietly before raising a hand, the other on the neck of his guitar. The hand in the care came down to grab the mic stand. "How are we doing tonight?" He asked, receiving a undiscernable answer. Most people just yelled anyway. With a grin he gave Ted the go ahead to start the first song in the set. Three taps of this sticks and Ted started with a slow steady beat the Lance immediately joined in on with bass. Two measures later and Erik came in with a 'soft' chord from his own guitar.

    "Clarity, where have you gone?
    Charity come back to me
I can't find my way home
Can you show me the way?

    Has it been a year?
    I can't tell anymore
Days drift by an I'm still without you
    Home isn't home anymore

    My sun had gone dark
    Your room is still here
How could you go and disappear?

    Clarity, where have you gone?
    Charity come back to me
I can't find my way home
Can you show me the way?"

Gabby watched as they began to play and was actually very impressed with the song. The words were really good, though it didn't seem like everyone in the audience really cared. Gabby figured most of them just came to whatever concert was going on at the time. Gabby ran her fingers through her hair as she watched the guys on stage. Emily was clearly more into the show. Gabby looked over at her and smiled a little. A sure sign that she wasn't hating her life at that exact moment. She felt her phone go off and checked the message. She saw it was her mom and started to text back. She put her phone away then watched as they started the next song. After a bit Gabby made her way out of the crowd and to the bar to get something to drink. She settled for a bottle of water then took a sip of it as she watched Emily approach her.

"I'm glad you actually decided to come with me Gabby." She said, laughing.

Gabby nodded, "Yea it was fun, but i really should go home later." She said. She wasn't going to tell her friend that she planned on going home to cram for the test they had the next day. When Emily asked if she was going to study she shook her head, "Nope nope never." Gabby replied, smiling. "Maybe a little." She said with a shrug.

They were on stage for a while longer and Marcus was a little bummed when their set ended. They walked out with a wave and a thank you and he was pretty sure Ted, blew a kiss at someone but he didn't care. He was pumped. They spent a few minutes backstage before making their way out into the crowd where a few eager fans were waiting for them, not that they were anything super special. He took a picture or two when asked as he made his way toward the bar. He needed a water and he needed a beer. He flashed a smile at the bartender when she set both items on the bar without him even asking for it. "You're a doll, Maya." He said and pulled some bill out of his pocket, handing them over. He opened the water first and drained it in no time flat.

Gabby looked at Emily, "Can we go now?" She asked. She watched as Emily nodded and headed for the door. Gabby turned to walk out and smacked into the guy next to her. "Sorry." She said, seeing it was one of the guys from the band. "You guys were good by the way." She complimented him. Gabby smiled at him, "The lyrics to the first song were simply amazing. Though id prefer them paired up acoustically with a piano, but your way was good too." She said. Gabby had always been a bigger fan of classical music, but she was always up for listening to Emily bands whenever she asked her to go.

Marcus grabbed the girls arm to make sure she wouldn't fall over. "Don't worry about it," He said with a grin. He raised his eyebrows as she continued talking and a grin spread across his face. "Now tell me, how would a piano make my song better? Explain it to me." He said and took a sip of his beer. He was used to most people telling him how much they loved his music and the band. The fact that she was suggesting ways to change it intrigued him. He wanted to know what else she thought.

Gabby looked at him, surprised that he wanted to hear more. Most musicians got upset when you offered ways to change there music. "Well your song is very intimate and the piano is one of the most intimate instruments out there. At least that's what i think." She said with a small smile. She glanced over to see Emily waiting for her then turned her attention back to the man in front of her. "Plus no offense but your songs all have the same up beat rhythm to them and not everyone likes that." She said with a shrug. "Mix it up a little and you might have a bigger fan base." She said. "Nothing too drastic you wouldn't want to sell out to the lame industries like many do these days." She explained. She quit talking when she realized she was rambling. It was a habit she had when she felt the need to get her point across. Her parents had told her it wasn't a good habit because it made her appear rude to other. "Sorry i'm rambling." She apologized.

Marcus shook his head. "Maybe that's why the lyrics are paired with this style of music. Maybe I don't want anyone feeling too intimate." He said. He placed a hand on his chest. Are you comparing my band to Fall out boy?" He shook his head. "Just as I was beginning to like you, too." He shrugged. That actually was something he heard before. "Sadly, it is not only my decision to change the sound. You'd have to argue that one with the rest of the band." He grinned again. "Don't apologize for speaking your mind.: He said, and took another sip of his beer. "What's your name?" He asked.

Gabby raised an eyebrow when he said fall out boy "who?" She asked. She really needed to get up to date with these bands that Emily forced her to listen to. She wasn't sure if she pissed him off or not but he had asked for her name so maybe she was on thin ice. "Gabriela, but you can call me Gabby." She replied. "And you are?" She asked as she offered him her hand. He definetly wasn't the kind of person she would talk to but he seemed alright for now. Though her parents would kill her if they saw her in two feet of this guy.

Marcus sighed. "You don't know fall out boy?" He e shook his head. "We'll have to do something about that." He said. "Gabby," He said and gave her a once over before taking her hand in his. "I'm Marcus." He took a second to polish off his beer. "You obviously weren't here for me so what brought you out tonight?"" He asked, betting the empty bottle on the bar beside him when Maya walked over with a new one.

Gabby shook her head, "no I don't. Which mean my observations were based solely on your performance alone." She said with a shrug. "It's nice to meet you Marcus." She said as she let go of his hand. She looked over at Emily when he asked what brought her here. "Small brunette by the door decided I need to go more places." She said, shrugged. "Honestly I'm not really seeing appeal." She told him. Sure she had met him and he was keeping her entertained, but she preferred to be home.

Marcus searched the few people standing by the door until he found the girl she was talking about. Looking back at Gabby, Marcus said with a wink, "Well, at least one of you has good taste in music." He raised an eyebrow at her. "What's not to like? You're young, you're supposed to go out and get life experience. That way your kids will always have something to hold against you." He said.

Gabby shook her head, "I'd rather be successful later and have fun." She said. She really didn't see the point of partying like this. "Seems like a waste of time to me." She told him as she glanced around. Half the people of drunk and staggering around already. Gabby looked at him, "not that doing this is a bad thing, but I personally don't like it." She explained. She didn't want to seem like she was being a bitch to him. Gabby really wasn't sure what to say to him now. It had been so long since she had talked to a stranger. "I should go." She said, seeing Emily looking for her. "It was nice meeting you though." She said as she touched his hand. "Goodnight." She said before pulling away and making her way to Emily. Gabby walked out of the bar and was glad to get some fresh air.

Marcus watched her for a moment. "Maybe you just aren't going to the right places?" He suggested. He was a little sad to hear her say that she was leaving. "You, too." He said and watched her walk out the door. It took him a moment before he realized that had no way of getting in contact with her after this, and he kind of wanted to. He followed her out the door hoping to get her number or hive her his.

Gabby walked to her car then heard someone say her name. She turned around and saw Marcus again, "Hey." She said. She smiled as he asked for her number, then gave it to him to put into his phone. "Just don't call from six to seven." She said. Gabby had a strict study schedule and she didn't need it interrupted. "Have a nice night Marcus." She said as she got into her car. She pulled away then headed back to Emily's house. She walked inside and sighed as she laid down in the guest room. She hated that she had a hard test tomorrow.

Marcus smiled and walked back in to find his friends. They still had a couple things to do before the night was over. He found Erik first and from the looks of it, there was no way he was leaving with the rest of them. A vibration in his pocket had him pulling his phone out. Looks like he had work. He sent a short reply stating for the recipient to meet him around back and made his way to where he left his hoodie. He pulled it back over his head and pulled a small bag from his guitar case before stepping into the same dark alley he had started his night in. Just on time, a short blond guy came up and traded the bag for cash. The rest of the night went in a blur of drugs and finding the guys only to see that they've chosen to hook up instead of work. Not that he blamed them. He got back home around three in the morning and crashed on his couch.

Gabby walked into her class the next day and took her test. When the test was over she felt Emily looking at her. "What?" She asked. Emily stared at her, "Marcus deLuca, you gave Marcus deLuca your number. I didn't think you had it in you. Turns out you like bad boys." Emily said, laughing softly. Gabby looked at her, "All i did was give him constructed criticism on his work. That was all so just leave it at that. I highly doubt he will call anyway." She said, shaking her head. She heard the bell ring and stood up, walking down that hallway. Part of her did want him to call, but the other half was afraid if he did. He seem so mysterious and she found that very attractive.

It was around noon when Marcus actually got up. He could hear his roommate in the shower so he decided to start his morning with a glass of water and a power bar. He had a meet up later but for the most part he was free. He sat back down on the couch and flipped through the channels. He settled on some show about parks and pulled his cell phone from his pocket. It was close to dying but he would put it on charge later. He sent out a quick text to Ted hand the guys and then sent one out to Gabby. She was pretty cool and he wouldn't mind hanging out with her.
