Derek looked over to her, quirking a brow as he listened. "Okay, fine. Now we set a ground rule of mine," he retorted. "Don't use the whole condescending tone with me. I will never be in the mood to hear that, and the last thing I need is to hear that while I'm trying to actually bring my grades up," he paused, watching her for a second. "Look, I don't want to do this either, okay? But we're stuck doing this, so we might as well deal with it. So when did you want to do this?" He fixed her with a level gaze, refusing to look away. Sure, he hated studying and probably wouldn't do much of it on his own, but he hated when people just assumed that that is what he would do. He shifted the books in his arms, watching her closely.
"No, I don't think they do. Because I don't think that I've ever seen a girls swoon over you, and you're not exactly the most trustworthy person I know," Abby argued, resisting the urge to laugh. She had to play this right. She knew that there was a certain point that they could reach before he just said no, but she wasn't sure what that was. She felt her pulse pickup at his words, her breathing change ever so slightly. "Where are we meeting, then?" She would never admit to it, but she was looking forward to this. She was
really looking forward to this. She got up, keeping her phone to her ear as she searched for her keys.
[Okay, good! I wasn't so sure, since some people aren't totally okay with that.
